🌹 PSA Beautifully understated, the striking Sunset of Safari bloom box is inspired by a vivid sunset over the Savanna, it is a celebration of wild blooms, vivid colours, and eye-catching foliage.

The Prestige Rose brings a beautiful focal point to the display. The deep red Leucadendron Safari Sunsets, sun-kissed Chrysanthemums and Asiatic Lily bring elegance, height, and texture.

The locally grown Agonis picked fresh with the Proteas are from our friends at Peninsula Flowers and bring great visual interest.

We found popping in the eucalyptus gum from last week’s ‘Nautical by Nature’ arrangement brought extra height and beautiful contrast.

We know you will have fun with this mix of different colours, heights, flower shapes, focals, fillers, foliage and texture- you’ve

New Zealand Protea season is here 🙌🏼!

We can’t get enough of them at BBY so you expect to see these beauties in your box of blooms over the coming months.

Some FUN FACTS for your Wednesday🌟

1. We source our proteas from Peninsula Flowers, a local protea grower, based in Barry’s Bay, Banks Peninsula, Christchurch. They have been growing on their farm since the 1980s- so they certainly know a thing or two.

2. The protea means diversity, daring, courage and transformation and is named after Proteus, the Greek God, Poseidon’s son.

3. Proteas can be dried by hanging them upside down in a dark and dry location for 2-3 weeks.

Ahh Hydrangeas, a firm favourite for many.
Here's 5 Monday Funday Facts you may not know about this classic bloom... 🌸

1 - In Asia, giving someone pink hydrangeas symbolises that you are the beat to their heart.
2 - The colours of the flowers are affected by the aluminium ions in the soil.
Did you know hydrangea flowers change colour based upon the alkalinity of the soil? If you see blue flowers, the soil is acidic. Pink, alkaline. And purple? Well you guessed it.
3 - Actress Blake Lively used pink hydrangeas in her wedding bouquet...if it's good enough for SVW enough said!
4 - Hydrangea lovers beware, do not EAT them, The compounds in the leaves release cyanide when eaten - yikes!
5 - They can grow exceptionally tall, up to 29 metres.

We always knew having flowers around was visually beautiful, but now science backs up how they can enhance our wellness too...

🧡 They increase creativity and productivity
We humans love to be in or around nature. Research has shown a bright set of blooms in the workplaces can substantially improve creative performance, problem-solving skills, and overall productivity.
Find yourself with brain fade? Try adding fresh flowers to your desk or in your home office.

🧡 They clean your house
Well, not technically (but wouldn't it be amazing if they did).
They can purify the air through the process of photosynthesis (the process changing carbon dioxide and sunlight into oxygen and nutrients).
Large chrysanthemums or “mums” are rated the highest for air purification. They’re shown to remove common toxins as well as ammonia from your everyday life.

🧡 They give us all the right mood vibes
Smelling flowers have been proven to relieve anxiety and reduce stress levels, alleviating mild depression - this is just one reason why aromatherapy and candles are based on floral fragrances.
Most of us will have also heard of the healing qualities of Rescue Remedy which combines the five original flower essences discovered by Dr Bach in the 1930s to provide uplifting support in times of emotional demand - it's powerful stuff!
