Rawinia & Ryan knew they wanted to be married in nature first and foremost 🌿 Somewhere that connected them together, and where they would both feel the happiest.

From there they eventually chose to have their ceremony surrounded by mountains (at the foot of Pikirakatahi/Mt Earnslaw to be exact!) Loving the irony that on this - one of the most important days of their lives - they were really just insignificant beings when set against the backdrop and majesty of Mother Nature!

These two had such a beautiful attitude to what their day was all about, and I’m sure you can all agree that this little whanau of theirs look far from insignificant in these stunning pictures from their planner/photo extraordinaries

No matter the size, style, or location of your wedding, the beginning of every marriage deserves to be celebrated!

More than that, it should be a genuine celebration of you… Regardless of whether you want your ceremony to be ‘short and sweet’ or ‘the full shebang’, I’m here to make sure that every word is an accurate representation of your relationship, your love, and what your marriage means to you.

How will I do that you ask? Well, let’s just say, in the words of Liam Neeson, I have a “a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a *very long career…”

Now is as good a time as ever to remind people what you stand for, and as a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m here to create a safe, inclusive space where your love is celebrated.

Beyond being a celebrant, I’m a father, husband, son, brother, friend, and voice in our community (albeit a little one) and I intend to spread kindness and respect in everything that I do 🤍

In short, you are safe here (so long as you don’t start coming for the well-fought rights of others, or stand in the way of making this world a better, safer, more inclusive place. If that’s you, then we need to have words…)

Daniel & Reece’s snowy mountain-top elopement in July 🏔️

Something I love so much about being a celebrant (especially when it comes to elopements) is being privy to the many emotions that a couple experience through out the course of their ceremony.

Words will always fail to truly capture love, but the little gestures and powerful emotions; the silent hand squeezes, the subtle glances, and the cheeky smiles. Those things say it all!

Now, I’m not so bold as to say that I can provide the cutest witnesses for your elopement, but also…

Robyn & Jacob eloped all the way from the USA back in April of this year, and because it was just the two of them, myself, and their wonderful photographer Brogan, they needed one more person to come along as a second witness!

Thankfully I’ve got a few rather experienced witnesses on call to help out (I’ve roped the hubby into a few now) and the adorable lil penguin was just an FOC added extra 🐧

The last wedding I officiated for a close friend this year was yet another very special one… Archie & Malin got married in Bali baby!

Yet another of my oldest and closest friends, Archie and I go all the way back to our primary school days. Ever since we were kids we’ve bonded over a love of the outdoors and wildlife, and many an afternoon were spent roaming the hills and exploring the willows on the shores of Lake Johnson where he lived.

He and Malin met several years ago now, and my husband and I just so happened to meet up with the both of them on Corfu just a week after they’d met!

Sharing in their beautiful adventure wedding in Bali along with their friends and family was truly unforgettable, and I can’t wait for our kids to grow up and be best buds (even if it might have to be pen pals for the first few years!)

Following on from my last post, this is the second wedding of some very close friends that I’ve had the pleasure of officiating for this year 🤍

Brooklyn & Jordan got married this past April, and as you can see they got an absolute stunner of a day for it!

Brooklyn and I go way back, and she was in fact one of my first girlfriends as a teenager (LOL!) Obviously that didn’t work out for a number of reasons, but boy am I thankful for this incredible woman in my life. She’s genuine, kind, and has a heart of gold!

I also happened to be there the day that she met her now husband, and from the very beginning it’s been clear that he matches her on every level when it comes to being a certified good sort ✨

It was so special to get these two married, and to dance the night away with them later on!

There’s a lot to love about this job of mine, but one the biggest highlights of being a celebrant has to be the fact that sometimes I get to officiate for the people closest to me. In this last year alone I’ve been lucky enough to see THREE of my very best friends get married to their significant others, and boy was it special!

The first of those weddings was none other than Caitlin & Aaron here in Queenstown in March 🏔️ I’ve known Caitlin since year 1 at Queenstown Primary School, and from those early days, our stint together in the local pipe band, and surviving through our (very) awkward teenage years, to seeing each other become the adults we are today, she’s been the most incredible, supportive, genuine friend anyone could hope for… Aaron, you’re a lucky man (don’t worry, I know she’s pretty lucky herself!)
