Unique country style setting suitable for weddings and other functions. This traditional style barn was renovated for our own wedding in March 2012.

We loved the setting so much we felt the need to share it with others! Set high up on our farm in a private location surrounded by native tree's, birdlife, and farm animals with supreme views overlooking all of Lake and Mount Tarawera. The barn itself can seat up to 150 guests, while outside features include landscaped native gardens, a fire pit, large deck and extensive outdoor lighting revealing
the beautiful bush setting by night. Use of this facility is by invite only, so please feel free to contact us, Glenn & Shelley Barbour, for further details.

We are excited to introduce Andy to you all, our newest member of The Black Barn, Lake Tarawera, team.
Andy started this month and is our new Grounds Manager. He has an extensive background in landscaping and hospitality. We look forward to having him on our team and the positive impact he will have on our venue and property

We love a good nook at an event!
Not only do they look great but they create little pockets where your guests can sit back, relax, enjoy the views & indulge in good conversation 👌

Whilst we are enjoying some downtime over the cooler months, we miss seeing our venue come to life each weekend & we get excited thinking about the season ahead!
The cheers of celebration, the sound of glasses clinking & the echo of laughter that flows from these walls is what brings us so much joy ♥️

The walk down to our ceremony location is the perfect distance to leave your guests in awe as your bridesmaids peak out from behind the landscaping leading you down to your friends & family.

We are incredibly grateful for the views that we have here at The Black Barn. How can this be topped?!
This is the spot that all our guests get to enjoy as a backdrop for the ceremony, followed by cocktails, champagne and mingling throughout our events.

The Hunting Huts 🏠
For the guys, for the gals, or sometimes for both!
The accommodation at The Black Barn is the perfect place to get ready with your bridal party. With views just as glorious as the venue itself, plenty of space & natural light to get prepped & being just 400m down the driveway makes it a very stress free commute to the ceremony!
If you have somewhere else special to you to stay, this could be the perfect place for family or friends travelling in from out of town - they’ll almost be able to roll home at the end of the night 💃

**The Reception layout**
Planning your layout can be a fun task or a bit of a daunting one working out who to place with who! We have a couple of different options within the space that work well, depending on your event numbers of course.
