GRIEF: A little word that packs a big punch.

Grief is a natural response to loss; it’s the emotional suffering we feel when something or someone we love is taken away.

Often the pain of loss can be overwhelming, causing us to feel a range of unexpected emotions. From shock or anger and disbelief, to feelings of guilt and profound sadness. Grief impacts our physical lives too, sometimes affecting how we eat or sleep.

These emotions are perfectly normal, they’re our natural reactions to loss and it makes sense that the more significant the loss, the deeper the grief. Coping with the loss of someone you love is one of life’s toughest challenges.

Such a beautiful article. Grief and hope can be experienced at the same time. It’s about what’s meaningful to each family uniquely. ❤️

The hardest act of love as a family is to say goodbye to a loved one and lay them to rest. It’s even harder if the death was sudden, a ‘high grief’ passing as in an accident or violent event. Families will be stunned, fragile, caught in a time-warp of reality and often in different locations. This is gut-wrenching stuff and they will need love, help and support.

The priority for family is contacting a Funeral Director. They will take care of your loved one and advise you where to from here. Most funeral directors will suggest an appropriate celebrant or you may have someone in mind.

Your celebrant is a key person. They will be a-calm-in-the-storm and sensitively helpful in considering how you decide to farewell your loved one. They will light the way forward regarding what your farewell might look like and put you at ease at this very difficult time.
