This week Charlotte and I are in Sweden, back to where my cooking career began at 10 years ago.

The produce and berries grown here on the organic farm are the best I have ever had! And the food produced here in the restaurant is so fresh, innovative and just beyond delicious (I can't even find the words to describe how good it is).

We have had such a great time helping in the garden, greenhouse, boutique shop and the kitchen. It feels like I was here just yesterday 😁 Thanks Mats & Karin for your exceptional hospitality. My family and I are so lucky to have a second home 😘

Woah - and just like that, it’s been a year since we’ve posted on social media! I guess time flies when you’re on maternity leave 😆 Jess has been doing an amazing job keeping Kex Kitchen in full swing, while I’ve had my hands full with little Sally. She’s served up some absolutely beautiful catering to local businesses in the Bay. We’re excited to see what fun the rest of the year will bring - hopefully starting with more regular social media posts!

Wow wee!! It certainly is a crazy feeling being in the kitchen and not having orders to fill! I have been enjoying the slow pace and have loved making chutney, jelly and pickling some veges... all to feature on our new menu :)

A big thank you to my Swedish mother Karin who taught me how to pickle and make chutney in Sweden, my mum Anne for always being on call to answer my questions and my grandmother for handing down her (now, hipster) Agee preserving jars 😁

Call me old fashioned, but I am having sooo much fun!!!

We are SUPER honoured to be asked again to cater this year's Diner en Blanc - Tauranga! Last year we fed 500 very happy guests and look forward to doing it all again with a tasty new menu. I can honestly say this is Tauranga's biggest & most fabulous dinner party, and personally think you would be crazy to miss it!! 🍾🥖🥂

That's a wrap for Kex for 2019! What an incredible year! We have a new kitchen down the Mount, some amazing new clients, some outstanding new staff.... and now I'm off to a Europe for a well-earned break!

Our Story

Hi! Welcome to Kex Kitchen, a fresh, modern catering company based here in Mount Maunganui.

Our passion for wholesome, healthy, beautiful food is at the heart of Kex Kitchen. From big corporate events to small staff meetings our love of fresh food means Kex always brings something delicious and healthy to the table.

Head chef Amy Rice spent three years working as a pastry chef in Sweden, which taught her the value of using seasonal, local, natural ingredients. It’s an ethos she has chosen to stick to - right down to using herbs, fruit and flowers from her own garden.

All our food is prepared in a registered commercial kitchen on Maunganui Road, and our careful baking process means there’s no chance of any allergy cross-contamination.
