🌱 Growing up on the land, my family embraced a lifestyle rich with natural abundance. We had massive gardens brimming with fresh vegetables, a variety of animals, and an orchard that gave us the juiciest fruits.
Every meal was a homemade feast, made from scratch and bursting with flavour. Natural health was woven into our daily lives—healing through nourishing food, rest, and a deep understanding of the nutrients our bodies needed.
My grandma first introduced me to an Immune Tonic, which I’ve evolved over time into the best-selling liquid gold it is today. Her brew had a crazy amount of garlic, which I swapped out for turmeric, but feel free to add it back in for an extra hit if you can deal with it! 🤯

Zucchini, Parmesan + Za’atar Fritters on high rotation when you have a couple of zucchini plants busting out crop after crop.
These make for a fabulous breakfast with eggs or a lovely lunch with salad and salmon.
Za’atar is available on my shop (go to the link in bio), which really gives the zucchini a lift or you could use a small amount of cumin powder.

Yehaaa we are well into Asparagus season! I love it!
Don’t be fooled by the over cooked asparagus you had growing up, I know, it was nasty… but it can be AMAZING!
There are far better ways to enjoy asparagus and the key is quick cooking.
My go-to methods are…
🪄Blanching in boiling water for 30 seconds, yeap even straight from the kettle.
🪄Pan frying hot with olive oil followed by a dash of water for 2-3 minutes
🪄Roasting in a hot oven with olive oil and seasoning for about 5 minutes.
Absolute game changers!
Rather than cooking your asparagus on its own, which means having to come up with a few more dishes to make an actual meal with it. Try making this stunning fresh salad… it has lots of extra goodies in it to transform your asparagus into a full meal.
Summer asparagus salad with goats cheese, toasted hazelnuts + sticky onions
Perfect on its own. Or try it for lunch with a poached egg or smoked salmon and dinner time with a bbq 👌🏻

You won't believe how delicious this chocolate-studded banana loaf is - it never lasts long at our house! 😋 It's quite low in sugar compared to most banana loaves - the key is to get the sweetness from extra ripe bananas and adding a little maple syrup! Banana + Chocolate Loaf 🍌 (gluten free) INGREDIENTS 3 ½ large ripe bananas 2 large eggs ⅓ pure maple syrup 75g butter, melted 1 tsp vanilla bean paste 1 cup almond meal ½ cup white rice flour 1 tsp baking soda Pinch of sea salt 110g dark chocolate METHOD - Preheat the oven to 170 degrees fan bake. Line a loaf tin with parchment paper. - Mash three bananas in a large mixing bowl, add eggs, maple syrup, melted butter and vanilla and whisk to combine. - Add almond meal, rice flour and baking soda and mix to just combine using the whisk. - Roughly chop dark chocolate and add two thirds to the banana mixture. - - Pour batter into pre prepared loaf tin. - Slice half a banana in half lengthways and place on the top of the loaf and scatter remaining chocolate on top. - Bake in the oven for 1 hour or until a skewer comes out clean. - Allow to cool in the tin for 20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool. - Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. ** Dairy free alternative: replace butter with melted coconut oil. Save this one for afternoon teas, lunchboxes or for next time you've got some bananas to use up! 🍌

Steph’s Soaked Seeds 🌱 Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan Keeps for 4-5 days refrigerated INGREDIENTS 🍇 ⅓ cup each: pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaked almonds ¼ cup each: chia seeds, ground flaxseed, dried currants or other dried fruit 1 ½ cup apricots (thawed or preserved), or berries, or Black Doris plums in juice Option 1: 1 can coconut milk + 1 cup water Option 2: ¾ can coconut cream + 1 ½ cup water INSTRUCTIONS 🥣 - Measure out all seeds, nuts, and dried fruit into a mixing bowl. - Blend the apricots (or other fruit) with the coconut milk or cream and water in a Nutribullet or high-powered blender until smooth. - Pour the blended fruit mixture into the bowl with the seeds and nuts, and whisk everything together until well combined. - Transfer the mixture to a 1-litre glass jar or Tupperware container, and refrigerate overnight to allow the seeds to soak. - In the morning, serve the soaked seeds with your choice of Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt, fresh fruits, nut butters, and shaved dark chocolate. Adjusting Consistency: If you prefer your soaked seeds thicker or thinner, adjust the amount of water as desired. Add more water for a thinner consistency or reduce the water for a thicker mixture. It's like a warm hug in a bowl - save this for when you need it! 🥰 HEALING CHICKEN + VEGETABLE SOUP 🥕 (makes 3 litres, gluten + dairy free) INGREDIENTS 🧅 Chicken Broth: - 2 liters water - 50g ginger, sliced - 15g turmeric root, sliced - 10 peppercorns - 2 garlic cloves, peeled - 1 tbsp Himalayan salt - 6 chicken thighs, skinless and bone-in Soup: - 3 carrots, peeled and diced - 3 celery stalks, diced - 1 onion, peeled and diced - 450g pumpkin (650g before removing skin and seeds), diced - 140g spinach or silver beet, finely sliced - 3-5 tbsp immune tonic (optional) INSTRUCTIONS 🍲 - In a large heavy-based pot (3.5-4L), combine the water, ginger, turmeric root, peppercorns, garlic, salt, and chicken thighs. Bring to a simmer, cover with a lid, and simmer for 45 minutes. - Remove the chicken thighs from the pot and set them aside to cool in a bowl. Strain the broth through a sieve into a large bowl. Clean the pot to remove any residue, then pour the strained broth back into the pot and bring to a simmer. - Add the diced carrots, celery, and onion to the simmering broth. Cook for 10 minutes, then add the diced pumpkin and cook for another 10 minutes. - Pull the cooled chicken off the bones and add it back to the soup. Stir in the spinach, letting it wilt for about 30 seconds. Turn off the heat and, if desired, add the immune tonic for extra flavour and immune-boosting benefits. - Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve immediately or allow to cool before storing. STORAGE Store in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freeze in 2-portion servings for easy meals, lasting up to 3 months in the freezer.
Wanaka you were amazing! We had such an awesome crowd at @perriamnz - it was freezing outside but snuggly and warm in store 🥰 I wore my Perriam Classic Cable Merino Jersey and Pant - the ultimate elevated loungewear, dressed up with a hat, jewels and heels. Two nights in Invercargill - done and dusted! 🤩 I had the most incredible time with @labelsdesignerclothing and everybody that came out to spend the evening with us, as always, it was filled with fashion, bubbles and delicious food! 🥗 We've got Gore tonight, Wanaka next week and then my sights will be set on the North Island; dates, times and locations coming very soon! It was the little dessert that could! 🥹 Cinderella - a golden white chocolate sphere sitting on a cinnamon and cocoa crumb. You'd pour hot golden caramel over the sphere (carriage), and it would melt away, revealing a spiced pumpkin mousse 👑 I was finishing up my first year of my culinary arts degree and I'd been working on a dessert project; Cinderella. My lecturers approached me to take my creation to the next level and compete with it in the Fonterra Proud to be a Chef competition. They pick 15 people from around New Zealand and you fly to Auckland to cook an original recipe - the only caveat was that it had to include dairy (because it's Fonterra of course!)🥛 I entered and got through, then competed in a cook off - it was a lot like Masterchef - there was a panel of judges and a time limit - it was pretty intense! I ended up being announced as the winner! 🤯 There were four of us from New Zealand that then got to go on to compete in the Australasian competition in Melbourne, against 20 regional winners from all across Australia. It was the most amazing three days where we got to eat at all the best restaurants, were cooked for by some of the biggest names in Australia, took part in masterclasses, and finally, we competed against each other. It was hugely stressful on the day, and we had to wait to find out who won the next night at gala dinner... I won the Most Innovative Dish Award, and was the only woman to win an award in the process 🥹 I'd come from the smallest little country town, and it was just such an amazing thing to be there among all these up and coming chefs, to be immersed in that world. I knew after that trip that I would live in Melbourne once I'd finished my studies, and I *knew* my future was in food 🤍 I can't wait to see where it takes me next! ✨️
