A little read about my day.
Remember back in 2020/21 when we couldn’t travel? Well a lovely man contacted me to see if he could send his mum a bunch of flowers every month as he was in the USA and not able to see her. My business was new and I was grateful for the regular business. This is how I first met Jean. Every month I would make Jean a different bunch of flowers and we would have a little chat at her doorway when I dropped them off. We would chat about flowers and gardening and family. Once she even showed me a cordyline she had managed to strike from some foliage in a bouquet. Impressive for Northland!
Her flowers were quite the chat amongst friends and I would delight in text messages from Jean about an unidentified bloom that was causing some discussion.
In March, Jean asked me to pop over to discuss some flowers for an “Event”. I happily arrived with my notebook ready to discuss flowers only to realise they were to be her celebration of life flowers. As usual, a no-nonsense Jean, told me her fabulous plans for a bright inside garden. As fate would have it I delivered the last bouquet to Jean from her son on Mother’s Day.
So today I filled Jean’s wish of her bright garden ready for her celebration.
Here are some photos along with a picture of the very first flowers I delivered Jean.
That is why being a florist is the very best job you can have.
Thank you to her family for letting me take over the space today and to Tetsje Fidler for sharing the load. 🦋 Thank you Jean it’s been an honour.
