Hey everyone,
This week we spoke to Napier City Council on the same submission below and had some interesting results.
ERHB will be speaking again to a submission made this Thursday the 9th to Hastings District Council . We have 10mins at 2pm to speak to the submission below.
This will be done at the Hastings council, if you wish to come along and show your support please do! Please pass the message on and let’s show HDC that this is important and they need to listen. If you are wanting to bring signs please keep the message focused on what we are wanting to achieve, that "this is all about process".
Hope to see you there!
Our request is that there is a democratic services review of the process undertaken where any exclusion of a group of people.
The CEO should not hold the sole authority to decide to exclude any group of people from any of its facilities or services. The Councils recent decision to require the MVP for publicly owned facilities was made by the CEO and did not need to go through public consultation or through councilors.
We feel the choice to exclude a group of people from council facilities should go through a more democratic and transparent process. This process should start with public consultation, giving people the opportunity to talk to their feedback then pass through to councilors to vote on.
Whilst this process is happening everyone should be treated equally, and no changes implemented.
