It is with mixed emotions that I announce the cessation of my celebrant services, effective 1st of January, 2024. It has been an incredible journey, filled with love and cherished moments. I am truly grateful for the trust you placed in me to be a part of your special occasions. While this chapter closes, I remain thankful for the beautiful memories we've created together. As a wedding celebrant in the Wairarapa, I love the opportunity that autumn brings to play with colour palettes. Traditional autumn wedding colours like burgundy, dark purple, mustard yellow, emerald green, navy blue, and orange are all fantastic options. However, don’t be afraid to mix it up with warmer hues like cerise, peacock blue, lime green, clementine, and sunshine yellow. Jewel tones like sapphire and amethyst also make for a glamorous and elegant look. If you prefer a softer palette, consider muted hues and neutrals like eucalyptus green, dove grey, and ivory. Here are some colour combinations to inspire you: muted rainbow, coral-mustard-blush pink, navy-gold-burgundy-burnt orange, emerald-moss, and raspberry-green. Celebrate your love in the Wairarapa this autumn! As a wedding celebrant, I suggest scheduling your main wedding photos to be taken during the best lighting for stunning results. In autumn, the best time for photos is an hour and a half after sunrise or 45 minutes before and after sunset. The vibrant colours of the season provide a gorgeous natural backdrop - think reds, golds, oranges, and chartreuse. The weather is usually mild and predictable, making for perfect photo opportunities. Even if it rains, embrace the season’s hazy days for a dramatic and enchanting forest shoot. Don’t miss capturing the beauty of autumn on your special day!

As a Wairarapa wedding celebrant, I believe that the key to creating a magical wedding atmosphere is through lighting and accessories. Fairy lights are a must-have, as they can be wrapped around light fittings, trees, and seating to create a whimsical atmosphere. For the ceremony room or church, consider using LED tea-lights or lanterns filled with pillar candles to set the mood. Soft, moody accessories like lightweight scarves and autumn candles fit perfectly with the crisp ambiance of an autumn wedding. To make a great first impression, illuminate walkways with lanterns and seasonal foliage for a warm guest welcome. Whether you’re tying the knot in a historic house, childhood home, or swanky hotel, a well-styled entryway is essential. What’s your favourite ambient lighting?

Adding a welcome sign using an old wooden palette or wine barrel top is a great way to achieve this. Write the order of the day or make signs to point towards the dance floor, bar, and ceremony space. Another idea is to create a guestbook or wedding wishes tree with leaves for guests to write on and tie to a branch. For a vintage country fete vibe, consider having sideshow style games like a coconut shy or bobbing for apples, or playing lawn games like croquet, bowls, or giant Jenga. As the evenings get cooler, add romantic touches like a bonfire or outdoor fire pit surrounded by hay bales, throws, and plush cushions, all in your autumn color palette, and fireworks or sparklers.
