First concert for our Autumn Series is: Ensemble Aaru, a reed quintet (oboe, bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone) made up of principal players from Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and top freelance players based in Auckland. Aaru’s repertoire includes both orchestral and contemporary music, which the ensemble is able to recreate through the many different tones and colours of the instruments.

Sunday 5 May, 7pm at All Souls Clevedon.

Tickets cost $35 each, which includes supper after the concert and GST. A small service charge will be added at the checkout. Advent is nearly upon us! Come and join us on the First Sunday of Advent (3 December) for A Very UNtraditional Christmas.

Comprised of five different stations, visitors will move in groups across the entire All Souls site. Each station will explore some of the traditions associated with Christmas using different media: music, art, performance, craft.

Groups will come onto the site and begin their Journey to Christmas every 20minutes starting at 6.20pm. We anticipate that it will take each group between 40 minutes to 1 hour to make their way through all the stations. Last entry will be at 7.40pm.

Please note there will be no parking available on site. There will be a drop off zone outside the main entrance to the grounds. If you are able, we recommend parking in the village and walking to the church.

Entry is by donation to the parish (you choose $5/$10/$15/$20)
and either an item of non-perishable food for the City Mission or a child's gift for the Anglican Trust for Women & Children.

Our last concert of the series: Sunday 5 November at 7pm. We have only a handful of tickets left.

Don't miss out on a unique opportunity to "Stroll through the wonderful garden of the "Sun King", Louis XIV, at his palace in Versailles in the late 17th century. Gain an insight into the history of the times with readings from memoirs and garden manuals. Be charmed by the music of the period, played by renowned performers of Baroque music.

Dr. Polly Sussex, who leads the musicians, is a scholar of music and instruments of the late 17th and early 18th century in France, and is an expert performer of several Baroque instruments including the Pardessus, which was very popular with French ladies at that time. Polly will be joined by Rachel Griffiths-Hughes who will play a beautiful French harpsichord with two keyboards, and Martin Griffiths completes the trio with his Baroque cello.

We are very grateful and excited that Polly and her colleagues are bringing their special concert to Clevedon for us. We have a few tickets left, and know you won't want to miss out!

The fourth and final instalment in the Spring Sanctuary St James concert Series explores French music from the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Focussing on the gardens at Versailles, the programme leads us through musical and spoken works from the time.

Polly Sussex will play French bass viol and the pardessus (the smallest of the French viols). Martin Griffiths plays Baroque cello and Rachael Griffiths-Hughes the harpishord.

This promises to be an exquisite end to our Spring Series.

The third concert in our Spring Series is Magnolia Trio. Comprised of members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the Magnolia Trio is New Zealand’s premiere woodwind trio. Bassoonist Ingrid Hagan is known for her personality packed virtuosity. On clarinet, Jonathan Cohen excels at wowing the audience. And oboist Camille Wells brings a sweet, nuanced approach.

The second concert in our Spring Series is Unlimited Quartet. The 2023 quartet champions, these four secured the highest score ever achieved by a quartet in New Zealand. They are soon to represent New Zealand at the Sweet Adelines International competition in Louisville, Kentucky later this year.
