Kaimanawa Alpine Adventures welcome club members to share a bucket list adventure.
Helibike the Kaimanawa Descent for only $300/rider (Normally $450)

"The Kaimanawa Descent is a 23km down hill mountain biking trail, designed to accommodate intermediate to advanced level riders (grade 3). The package begins with a helicopter flight from our base (South Taupō) to the trail head on the Patutu Tops (1673m). The first 15km will see you descend through Kaimanawa alpine tussock country, taking in the spectacular views of the entire Central Plateau and the towering volcanic peaks of the Tongariro National Park. The final 8km twists and turns through New Zealand native mountain beech forest, to finish back at their base on Waipakahi Road.

The total ride descent is just under 800m with 430m of climbing.

The ride itself takes between three and four hours, allowing plenty of time to stop and soak up the views"

Finally some dry enough weather for our first Waipunga Sunday Lock-In Ride.
Yes, you heard right… we have been given controlled access to Waipunga Block for Sunday morning rides!!
Open to ALL club members - no additional cost
Strict ‘Lock in conditions’ need be adhered to, which are detailed on the registration link. ABSOLUTELY NO RIDING IN THE PARK AT ANY OTHER TIME.
Waipunga block only.
Pre-registration is required for safety and communication purposes
Get back on that bike and come check out our new tracks.
Only open to current members, so please make sure you have signed up as a club member for 2023-24 (membership will be validated when collecting your riding passes)

Firstly, time to renew your membership for 2023-24. As Pan Pac Mountain Bike Park is still closed, the membership fee is set at $15. Once we have a fully open and operational MTB park again, there will be an additional park access fee. The cost of this is yet to be determined.

*July 20th - Te Mata Peak shuttles and pizza night to celebrate International MTB day - details available shortly.

2023 NZDH DATES 🙂

Due to previous weather events earlier in the year Napier will not be hosting a race. So we will be hosting two rounds in Rotorua!

14th October - Rotorua
11th November - 440 MTB Park
18th November - Wellington
9th December - Dome
16th December - Rotorua (yes we are heading here twice wahoooo!)

Entries will go live on August 9th at 7pm.
$90 per event. Each race will be capped at 150 riders.

The team from Timber Trail Lodge - Adventure & Comfort in Pureora Forest Park have kindly offered a 1 night package for 2 people including shuttles, accommodation and all meals.

If you haven't ridden it, it's a must do ride. Explore the trail (about 42km) at your own leisure and make your way to the halfway point being the lodge where you are greeted with hot showers and pizza! Fully licenced so maybe a cheeky cider post ride is a must! Scrummy dinner is served with pudding to follow and relax by the fire with other guests. Cooked breakfast is included the next day and a packed lunch before you head off for another 45km of beautiful native forest.

As many of you know, the Pan Pac Mountain Bike Park just north of Napier was hit by the cyclone making it unridable. The container that housed all the HBMTB club owned track building tools was swept away in the flood that came through Esk Valley - most likely swept out to sea.
The club is trying every single funding option available to raise money to purchase new tools and rebuild the tracks. But as you can imagine, there are many others needing funding - so any funding that comes the clubs way may not be much, if at all. Hence the need to try other avenues to raise funds. If you're in a position to donate to the club for the purchase of tools and track rebuilding costs, this givealittle page has just been set up by the club. Thank you!!!

Thank you to all those who are respecting the Park closure and staying off the tracks at this time.

We are aware of some who are continuing to use the tracks. We have a dedicated team working to repair our tracks, and their hard work is being undone by riders continuing to use them.

Please do not enter the Park or ride the tracks until we officially reopen.

WORKING BEE at local mountainbiker Tom Clark's farm this Sunday 26 Feb, anytime from 8.30am onwards, meeting at 298 Hedgeley Rd, Bay View, drive up to woolshed, approx.700m. Tom has extensive damage across his farm, and any assistance is very welcome.
So a big call out for AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.
Clearing Fences, heavy and smelly work.
Bring workboots/gumboots, shovels, Hedge Timmers, Scythes, Secateurs and Shear, work gloves, and a big heart. Bring own water, BBQ put on.

Kicking off 6th May & running monthly till July (3 sessions!!) Louis Hamilton is heading our way to present his popular Enduro Performance Clinics base out at Panpac MTB Park.

This is an unbelievable chance to gain some off season skills ready to ramp up for the 23/24 Enduro Season.

With all the rain a few sections of the MTB tracks at Te Mata Park are getting overgrown. It makes a big difference to the riding experience (and safety) to give some of them a trim. Please can anyone who has a line trimmer and some spare time to help out, give Michael Bate a text or a call at 021503875.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST 🤔

ENDURO PERFORMANCE CLINICS - Louis Hamilton

Make those improvements count over the winter! The Enduro Performance Clinics were created with an intention of race craft training over the off season break. This series of clinics has been designed for racers wanting to add structure to expand their racing abilities. The Enduro Performance clinics are a series of monthly camps based at Panpac MTB Park with the final clinic in Rotorua.

There will be a cost which is yet to be confirmed but expect around $500/rider for the complete sessions (3-4)

This is just the start of the planning process and there will be more information to come.

If you are interested DM and your details will be forwarded to work out the best way to run clinics.

This is pretty exciting to be able to bring Tuned to HB!!

We are a bit light on the marshal front for the race on Saturday. If you have riders racing why not help out while watching. We need probably another 5 to be safe, but more would be better!!!

There are multiple pedestrian crossings that need to be manned to make it safe for both Walkers and Riders.
