Josh Chandulal-Mackay Marriage Celebrant I am a Marriage & Civil Union Celebrant operating in the Whanganui District. The main thing is ensuring that you're happy with the end result.

As an independent celebrant I am available to work with you and your fiancé to craft a ceremony that reflects your personalities, your aspirations for marriage, and the type of ceremony you wish to create for yourselves, and your close friends, family and community. My process involves meeting in person for an informal chat, so that you can get to know me, ask any questions, and see whether or not

I'm the right fit for what you're after. If you're happy with me to conduct your wedding ceremony, I have developed a questionnaire which I encourage couples to complete (either together or separately) which helps me to get a sense of the type of ceremony you're looking for. We then work together to craft a ceremony that you're happy with, this can be edited, changed, turned on its head or totally re-started as many times as you like! I am available for wedding rehearsals and as your celebrant, it is my responsibility to process all legal documentation at the conclusion of the ceremony. My fee is $350 + any travel costs.

Yesterday I officiated the wedding of a couple in their living room at home, surrounded by a small group of family.

These sorts of ceremonies are particularly special because they feel personal and the ceremony becomes more of a conversation between myself, the bride and groom and the guests.

I really enjoy being able to craft ceremonies that reflect the identities and values of the couple.

Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to chat further about what I can offer as your celebrant. 💍👰🏼🤵🏻

My membership of Celebrants Aotearoa New Zealand means that I can provide couples with a range of certificates to commemorate their marriage. These certificates are symbolic rather than legal documents, and give depth and meaning to your special day.

Kia Ora koutou

Thank you for supporting my new celebrant page.

I have been an independent marriage & civil Union celebrant for four years, and am a registered member of CANZ (Celebrants Aotearoa New Zealand).

My progression towards becoming a celebrant began with a conversation on a marae in 2013 when I was 18 years old. It involved a humorous discussion between myself (a Catholic) and couple of young Muslim women.

We were participating in a cultural diversity forum run by the Human Rights Commission and so naturally, cultural differences and bridging the gap of understanding were both welcome and fulfilling conversations that we were all eager to participate in.

The conversation centred around the differences between Catholicism and Islam and eventually deviated into the challenges that an engaged couple of varying religious backgrounds could have if seeking to be married in a ceremony conducted by their respective religious institutions.

And so that got me thinking about the beauty of the civil marriage ceremony, where a celebrant has the opportunity to work with a couple to craft a ceremony that reflects both their unique backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and aspirations.

And so a seed was planted.

In 2017, two close friends of mine acted as a catalyst for me to complete my training and after conducting my first ceremony for them in 2018, I have been performing ceremonies ever since.

I enjoy meeting with each couple to get to know them, and working with them throughout the process to craft both a legal, and highly personal ceremony.

This role is a privilege, and the approach that I take as a celebrant reflects the deep significance of marriage in the life journey of the couple making their commitments to one another.
