From commercial shoots to weddings - this year has been busier than ever, especially with photography! 📸
We've been lucky to work on a great variety of different gigs, always keeping things interesting.

The weather held it together for the majority of Jamie & Zac's big day in March // My first time shooting out at the Argyle Cottage Garden and it was stunning 🌱
One of the highlights from last year was working alongside Te Rourou, One Aotearoa Foundation and creating content for their Invercargill Initiative. These videos will be making appearances throughout One NZ offices nationwide - such a privilege to be apart of a great cause and to work with an amazing team ✨
What a year 2023 has been!! 😅
2 years ago I would never have thought that my career would have led me to this point - running a full-time business and creating content for local and national businesses.
It’s been overwhelming for a majority of the year but it’s made me more knowledgeable and confident in my skillset as a businessman and a videographer.
I can’t wait to share all the mahi I’ve been working on in late 2023 and some exciting new projects that’ll take place in 2024. I’m still on my honeymoon so I won’t be back on the tools till late January.
This photo was taken in Wellington last month at the New Zealand Youth Film Festival - I didn’t come away with the win, but I’m very proud of how my film was received and it was a great opportunity to meet many young likeminded filmmakers.

The Adventures of Banana Man - The Rise of Tomaté! has been nominated for the Warner Bros. International Television Production New Zealand Best 22 - 24 Age Group Film award category at the 2023 New Zealand Youth Film Festival (NZYFF)!
I will be attending a nominee-exclusive Industry Day in Wellington plus the awards night the following day. I'm very stoked to have been nominated 2 years in a row for this festival, hopefully I can do it once more before I'm no longer considered "youth" 😅
This wouldn't of been possible without the incredible cast and crew who helped me create this project - I'm very blessed 🙏

Over the month of August, I had the pleasure of working with the Southland Business Chamber for their Business Excellence Awards night. I traveled to 30+ local businesses spanning from Te Anau to Stewart Island to capture their workplace environment and their people.
I met with some amazing business owners and learnt a lot more about the successful businesses operating in Southland. It’s not everyday that these opportunities present themselves 📸

While completing his final year of a Bachelor in Screen Arts Degree (Film), Caleb Lay started the business early 2022 and continued to widen his skill sets in the arts of videography and marketing. Caleb has been trusted to provide content for many known local businesses such as H W Richardson, Active Southland, Fat Bastard Pies and many more.

BEST SHORT NOMINATION 🍌
The Adventures of Banana Man - The Rise of Tomaté! has been nominated for BEST SHORT in the Student World Impact Film Festival!
The film festival had over 13,000 entries from 120 countries - quite unreal 😅
Here are some of the judges comments from the festival:
- "The film is a cinematic triumph that combines technical brilliance with powerful performances, resulting in an unforgettable experience."
- "A testament to the director's unwavering commitment to their creative vision, resulting in a transformative film."
- "The visual palette is vibrant and enchanting, bringing the film's world to life in a visually stunning way."
There are a few more festivals that BM has been entered into - so hopefully some more people find it entertaining! 🤞

"The Adventures of Banana Man!" has been nominated for 'Best Editing' in the New Zealand Youth Film Festival (NZYFF)!
Out of the 357 film entries in the festival, it got shortlisted into the top 3 films for that category. My 1st AD (First Assistant Director) Rhys Strang will be representing me in Auckland next month for the awards ceremony!
Very thrilled with the results of this project so far!
PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD 🍌
The second installment of "The Adventures of Banana Man" series won the "People's Choice Award" at the Worlds Beyond festival last Thursday! 🪐
Thank you to all the cast and crew who put in the mahi to make this project a blast! 🍅
The project will start it's festival run early January 2023 - stay tuned!
Back in June, Sir Tim Shadbolt agreed to feature as a cameo role in my latest film "The Adventures of Banana Man! The Rise of Tomaté!" 🍌
