Wreaths symbolise unity, continuity, the unending circle of life and the natural cycle of seasons flowing into each other. Choosing different elements to represent celebration, hope and memories imbues your own wreath with a personal symbolism for reflection and the act of making can become a meditation on the past, the present and the future.
Ancient wreaths were made to represent joy, victory, harvest ,wholeness, transition and rebirth. More modern wreaths became associated with Christmas but the old intent remains the same....welcoming, remembering and unifying. Some common foliages used are Evergreen (immortality of the soul) Pinecones (rebirth) Rosemary (remembrance). You can make a wreath of anything that has personal significance, one that lasts for a day or that you keep for a long time, adding to it at any time that has meaning to you.
We still have some places left for our wreath workshop next weekend Saturday 5th December.
