LUMIFY '22​​​​​​​​
A look back through some of the professional photos that have come in from for LUMIFY Laneways 2022 in the heart of Queenstown.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Silk Design were brought onboard to fabricate and install the entrance archway to 'Freaktopia Alley' located along Cow Lane for the 4-day event. Our team created the cut files from the supplied concept design and then used the CNC machine to cut the detailed lettering and sign shape out before applying the finishing touches which included UV reactive paint to the lettering in a green>yellow gradient and assembling the design ready for installing onto a truss arch frame.​​​​​​​​

The sign came out looking great under the UV lights and the cut out dealing really popped!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
We also installed lightbox graphics to a light column at the other end of lane. ​​​​​​​​

SHE'S BACK!!
This incredible floral exhibition was originally designed and created back in 2016 by & to promote the New Covent Garden Market at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and was a celebration of the Queen's 90th birthday.

Now, it's back on display in Sloane Square for 'Chelsea in Bloom' (London's largest free-to-attend festival of flowers) in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!

It's so exciting that this project has come out for round two as Lexi was on the original design team and lead the project that won a Gold Award and the 'New Design Award' at the show back in 2016. Scroll down in our feed to read a little bit more about Lexi and her background.

Fiji Airways Promotional Campaign​​​​​​​​

This is a recent install we did for a Fiji Airways promotional campaign at Wellington Airport throughout the month of May. ​​​​​​​​

These stretched fabric displays are great for quick install, transporting around the country and being able to easily interchange the double sided graphics.​​​​​​​​

This display is headed down to Christchurch Airport next so look out when you're next passing through :) ​​​​​​​​

LUMIFY 2022
Install time! LUMIFY is a pivot event created by the amazing team who have been lighting up Queenstown with LUMA Southern Light festival for years! This year, the smaller scale ‘LUMIFY’ will light up the laneways of downtown Queenstown (LUMA is normally held in the Gardens) and transform them into weird and wonderful experiences.

We’ll share more on Friday once the show begins!

Event runs Friday 3rd - Monday 6th over the Queens birthday weekend.

CNC MACHINE OPERATION​​​​​​​​
Do you have a project that requires precision cutting or details that you just can't achieve with hand tools? Our CNC machine does just that, from timber to plastic & signage sheets, a CNC cutting machine can accurately cut to the specifications of your design. We use this machine daily to achieve our design projects.​​​​​​​​

In case you were curious, CNC stands for Computerised Numerical Control. It is a computerised manufacturing process in which pre-programmed software and code controls the movement of production equipment.​​​​​​​​

Simon runs the production management at Silk. As a builder for ten years and the owner of a large format printing company for a further fifteen, Simon has management knowledge of sizable projects and practical knowledge of event build requirements. Simon is trained in operating a CNC machine, certified to work at heights, qualified in vehicle sign writing and has a comprehensive electrical background. Simon brings all of our design projects to life!​​​​​​​​

Easter weekend saw the football club finally return home to Wellington after spending the season 'til now in Australia due to COVID.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With being one of our main sporting event signage venues, we were proud to support the team with all of their signage requirements for the game against the Central Coast Mariners.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Silk produced the ball plinth, static perimeter sponsor signage, field wedges and the Chairman's and Community VIP Lounge signage.

We're off to Eden Park in Auckland next to set up for the team there!

LUMA - Southern Light Project, Queenstown.

Sadly, We've just heard the news from our friends at LUMA that the 2022 light festival over the Queens Birthday long weekend in June has had to be cancelled 😢.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our team have been involved with LUMA for over 5 years now so it's gutting to stand down for another year (2020 was also cancelled due to COVID) however, we're working with the wider LUMA team towards an epic 2023 and can't wait for it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are some photos from LUMA 2021 where we managed the hospitality area 'LUMA Lounge' and installed some bespoke signage, design features and magical mushroom seating.
