💃🏼That feeling when you can have a big wedding again! 🙌

🚦So we are officially in the new traffic light system. But what does it mean for wedding numbers in your region?

🔴 Red
If you use the My Vaccine Pass to check everyone is fully vaccinated at your wedding, you will be able to have up to 100 people! Just make sure to keep to the 1m distancing rule.
If you choose not to use My Vaccine Pass you can still have up to 25 people and keep to 1m distancing.

🟠 Orange
If you use My Vaccine Pass there are no limits!!
If you don’t check if people are vaccinated you can have up to 50 people and you’ll need to follow 1m distancing.

🟢 Green
If everyone is vaccinated there are no limits!!
If you don’t use My Vaccine Pass you can have up to 100 people and will need to follow 1m distancing.

🥂Don’t run out of drinks at your wedding! Check out our tips for getting just the right number of drinks for your guests🍹

If you are buying alcohol for your reception or your venue provides drinks per table, working out how much you need to purchase can seem like a big task!

Luckily, there is a wee formula you can use to help you find a ballpark number:

🥳 1 drink per guest, per hour 🕰

Using this formula can get you started on how much you need to purchase.
Plus here are a couple of extra tips:

🍾 Do you need to consider extra for a special drink or a toast?

⬆️ Round your answer up. That way you know you won’t run out and worst case, you will have extra for a later occasion.

📦 Check with the supplier if they will accept unopened boxes. Some stores will buy back any unused alcohol.

No wedding is perfect from start to finish. SOMETHING is bound to go wrong. Maybe it’s something little that no one else notices or something bigger
😬 🙊 Cakes get knocked over. Cars breakdown. Microphones don’t work. Pandemics happen.

So yes. Unfortunately, you got the unlucky task of planning your wedding during a pandemic 😭

That doesn’t mean you can’t have an incredible day celebrating your love.

Ok. Planning is anything but easy right now. Even when we move to the traffic lights at “Red” things will still look a little different with vaccine certificates and limits for weddings set to 100.

So maybe the details of your ideal day are a little changed… maybe you have to cut numbers still and you’re worried you’re going to upset some people. It is tough. But people DO understand. You are planning a wedding during a global pandemic! It’s ok to say no to a few people and change a few plans.

Covid aside, the best advice we’ve ever heard about planning a wedding is “something will go wrong, you just have to let it happen”. This day is a celebration of your love. Embrace that you are shining the beautiful light of love in this chaos right now. Work through these hurdles together as you plan the most exciting day of your lives. No pandemic can stop you!

Did you know… Wedding cakes actually come from a tradition way back in Ancient Rome! 🍰 🏛

A wheat cake was broken over the bride’s head to symbolise luck and fertility. The crumbs were then eaten by the married couple and guests.

I have to say I much prefer getting a slice of today’s wedding cake instead! No crumbs in my hair please 💁🏻‍♀️

🌅 What is Golden Hour? And how do I get these magic moments on my wedding day?

You may have heard wedding photographers talk about this “magic hour” when planning out wedding day timelines. In a nutshell, it’s the time of day just after sunrise or just before sunset, when the light from the sun casts a beautiful golden glow on everything it touches; including your gorgeous faces.

If you want the stunning golden hour photos as part of your day, talk to your wedding photographer about how you can capture this fleeting moment. You’ll only get an hour before the sun sets to steal these pics, so planning is key.

How are you? No, how are you really?

It feels so strange to be looking at wedding inspiration and photos from a time when we all got together and celebrated without considering masks or social distancing.

Our hearts are with brides, grooms and families planning weddings right now, especially those in Auckland. Eight weeks of lockdown and we are really feeling it, so we can only imagine the stress and frustration you are going through.

Just remember, your love is what you are celebrating. As much as it sucks, you may need to let go of the exact idea of how you were going to have your wedding before lockdowns were a thing. Maybe you can’t have all the people that you wanted there. Maybe that perfect venue isn’t the right venue anymore. Or you have a ceremony one day and a reception a few months later. Or maybe you just postpone the whole thing until a later date (again).

You are going to be making some tough decisions but remember you are celebrating your love for each other and that is the most important part of your wedding.
