“Spring: A lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be.” – Unknown
I know I said that Mio Catering would reopen this Spring, but taking some downtime helped me realise that it was a great opportunity to feel inspired, seek new challenges and make a change. I spent the winter studying floristry, and I’m happy to say that I’ve been working the past few months as a florist at . I’m absolutely loving it! I get to work with the most amazing team in a beautiful environment, making floral creations that bring people so much happiness. 🌸🥰
Mio Catering will remain closed for the foreseeable future, but my love for cooking and sharing a meal with friends and family will always be an integral part of who I am. I miss all the lovely people I met along the way on my Mio Catering journey, so please do pop in and say hi at Madison’s - I’d love to make you a beautiful floral creation…and who knows, if you’re lucky, I may even share one or two of my secret Mio recipes! 😘 - Jo xx

My most popular platter has definitely been the ‘Cape Coast’ for two, pictured here on the pass. The perfect accompaniment to a glass of white wine or rosé. We’re fully booked on Saturday, but there’s still some tables available on Sunday and Monday! Hope to see you there - Jo 😊

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost time to put away the sun hats and sunscreen, the past few months have flown by!😳
As summer comes to a close, I have decided that it is also time for me to leave Elephant Hill. I will be here until the end of February, so there’s still a few more weeks left if you would like to enjoy a Mio Catering platter and wine on the deck. Hopefully the good weather returns, so you get the chance to bask in the sunshine while relaxing the day away☀️🥂

I’ve decided to wait until level two to reopen. Given my husband is working, our two kids will still need to be homeschooled, and I work from my home kitchen, it’s too much to try and kick back into catering just yet. I look forward to taking new orders once we hit level two. In the meantime, there’s a plethora of amazing local cafes and restaurants reopening with contactless pick up and delivery options. Personally, I’m hanging out for my daily flat white (I’ve missed you !❤️)

Catering lunch for my regulars is definitely one of my favourite things to do, because they trust me enough to mix up their menu and bring them something a bit different. I am known for my cabbage rolls - a family recipe passed down from my Lebanese Grandmother, which Mum and I have both tweaked over the years to create different versions. This family-style lunch was a warming pot of lamb & beef silverbeet rolls simmered in a tomato broth, pork & leek patties in chicken stock and lemon (one of my favourite Ottolenghi recipes), green salad, homemade hummus and yoghurt.❤️

Freshly baked frittata🌟 I only use locally produced free range eggs, which makes such a huge difference to the quality and taste🥚 The other reason I’m 100% free range, is because when I was at uni I spent a summer working at a chicken battery farm…hands down my worst job ever, I spent every day wanting to free all those poor unhealthy looking chooks! (it put me off eating eggs for a whole year!) So yep, every egg used in my kitchen is free range 👌🏻
