We recently had the privilege of working with the wonderful team at nzsuperyachtacademy to create a luxurious tablescape that would feel sumptuous and lush in the plush setting of a Superyacht dining room. They have a training programme this week based in the beautiful JaceSpace in Symonds Street in Auckland, and they asked us to set up a mid-winter banquet style theme, inspired by the brick walls of the venue and their Versace plates. We had so much fun styling this, so we thought we best share our inspiration and (over at our styling blog) provide you with a little ‘how to’ guide for styling your own Mid-Winter table..

It was a privilege to be involved in this beautiful event for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ by Heather Walton-Bycroft Ray White Matakana and Omaha - Black Group Realty at Sculturium. This is a wreath of special significance for us as Abbey and Heather’s grandfather served as a Lancaster bomber pilot through WW2. We hand make these wreaths with love, using high quality artificial fern, citrus foliage and of course red poppies’ which signify remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. Designed to last many ANZAC days, we offer a 50cm version that includes a wooden box for safe storage. The red bow is included and for every wreath sold we will donate $25 to the poppy day appeal…Order now for delivery prior to ANZAC day. Console styling tips - The styling of this console table was inspired by our Summer garden and our mum’s gorgeous hydrangea painting. We understand that having a console in front of a window may not be a scenario that you have, but this could easily be substituted for a large mirror or a beautiful piece of artwork.
1. USE BOTANICALS TO INCORPORATE IN ACCENT COLOURS
For us this meant drawing on the colours in the garden and hydrangea painting. We featured our ‘Blue Moon’ faux arrangement here. The dark textural vase adds a modern element whilst adding contrast and depth to the fresh summer colours.
2. CONSIDER ADDING LIGHTING
Not only does a lamp provide a beautiful atmosphere in the evenings, it also is a great tool to bring in other design elements. Our ‘Brass finish table lamp with linen look lampshade’ brings a reflective property which elevates the space, whilst the shade brings a defined sculptural form which juxtaposes the free form florals on the opposite side.
3. ADD LAYERS & TEXTURES
Use a mix of textures and heights to add visual interest. Layer decorative items such as vases, sculptures or books to avoid a flat, one-dimensional look. Books are a wonderful way to add a bit of height without adding too much visually. We selected the AD 100 book here as the colour blends with the marble top - it adds height without becoming a focal point. Depending on the console table, sometimes it is necessary to add visual weight on the floor to ground the look. We used a small stool and basket – these are great options for entrance tables where you want to store away shoes/mess (and have a stool handy for sitting while putting on your shoes). Alternatively, 2 ottomans under a console table is also a great option.
4. CONSIDER FORM/SHAPE
Add items that intrigue the eye. Sculptural items are perfect as they contrast classical silhouettes. We added our favourite green Moroccan bowls, for their amazing glaze, patina and colour, but also for thei

We designed this ‘Christmas Fern’ garland with a New Zealand summer in mind..It is festive enough to work on your Christmas table or mantle (especially if we add fairy lights for you), but can be left out to enjoy right through summer 👌(Matched here with our Scandi Wreath).
How to ribbon wrap your Christmas tree fairy lights…
1) Work out how long your lights should be (our ones are designed to 15m which will suit most trees - this tree is 2.2m for reference.) The lights will work on most standard tree sizes you will just have to adjust your spacing to suit or for extra large trees you may need 2 sets.
2) Plug in the lights and chose your desired setting (much easier to see when they are turned on!) We prefer them to be left glowing at all times.
2) Wrap around tree in circular motion from bottom to top - like a ribbon.
3) Aim for your final wrap to finish at the top of the tree
4) Start back at the bottom and straighten up the wrap to your liking - aim for even spacing between each strand of the ‘ribbon.’
5) Stand back, marvel and enjoy!!

‘A Touch of Christmas’ mini trees in 1.2m and 60cm - great as a pair or on their own. We finish them with a cute little bow over a hessian wrap base and send them out in a beautiful gift/storage box. Battery fairy lights are an optional extra also. Perfect for those that don’t have the space (or time) for a full size tree.

This section of the hallway did not have much natural light so we styled it with our brightly coloured ‘Hot Summers Day’ collection. Heather had the idea of putting pink ribbon on the wall to frame the display (like the wall was gift wrapped with a bow) - it looked amazing - message us if you want tips on how to do this without ruining the paint (which we managed to avoid luckily). #pinkchristmas #pinkchristmastree #pinkchristmasdecor #christmasdecorations
