Need a helping hand with a big project? Here's your chance to win a working bee team of 10-20 dedicated volunteers to make your project a reality!

The nitty gritty:
🧑‍🤝‍🧑Our team of 10-20 staff will help complete your project.
🛠️All equipment or consumables must be provided by your group.
🦺Ensure your group has an adequate Health and Safety plan for volunteers.
👋The working bee will be suitable for a range of abilities and not require specialist skills.
🧠Any minor training or inductions can be completed quickly on the day.
🧍A member of your group must be present throughout the day to support and assist council staff.

We are looking for a dynamic and exceptional manager to join our team. The successful applicant will have responsibility for The Wheelhouse initiative and its continued growth as a collaborative capability building resource for Taranaki community organisations and groups. The position will be located at the Bishop’s Action Foundation office in New Plymouth, this is ideally a full-time position, however hours and flexible working arrangements are negotiable.

Applicants will need:
• A solid understanding of, and experience working with, the community sector;
• To be capable of responding to community organisation needs within a changing environment;
• Knowledge of capability building in a community sector context;
• To demonstrate an ability to work successfully with Māori organisations;
• To have a track record of developing and implementing new and successful initiatives;
• Experience delivering outcomes through partnership and collaboration;
• Effective facilitation, organisational and management skills;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Leadership qualities;
• Relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Today we congratulate Karl Chitham as he achieves much deserved recognition - Officer of the Order (ONZM) for services to the arts, particularly Māori art.

Before taking the Directorship at the Dowse in Wellington we were very privileged to have had Karl in Tauranga where he was the Director of TAG.
Karl was always gracious with his advice and support of the Incubator Creative Hub as we grew and found our way.
He was also a huge champion for the Art sector in Tauranga Moana and his influence helped us all elevate it's importance and give it relevance.

Huge Congratulations on behalf of the Incubator Team.

Think you have event management challenges? Spare a thought for this guy, Jimmy Brown. In the late 1940’s he was given a 3 month contract to organise the first motor racing event at Silverstone, UK. That meant turning a farm into a racetrack, finding 170 tonnes of straw bales to line the track, laying 10 miles of signal wiring and rounding up 620 helpers. The event attracted 100,000 people. Would you be up for that in only 3 months. He must have liked it. He stayed with them for the next 40 years (photo and story credit - Silverstone Museum)
