TONIGHT at the Wellsford RSA.

PORK SHANKS. Long slow cooked as in Lamb Shanks but without the skin. Very popular served with cheesy SMASHed spuds and a wine jus.
OR
Chicken Korma mildly done, served on Coconut rice
OR
My SALMON in Maple Syrup baked to order (so can be slow) described as YUM. Please dont ask for it to be overcooked, it comes out cooked.

ALL dishes come with you choice of vege or the salad area.

Ever, ever popular LAMB SHANKS, LONG baked by Shirley for your dining pleasure., good Hawkes Bay Lambs sacrificed just for us (just kidding), shanks for the memories. Served on a Mash with my favourite Red wine jus.

OR

My SEAFOOD CHOWDER, prepared by me tomorrow arvo, served with Garlic bread, for either entree or main, chock full of different seafood. This will be a limited cook so........

OR

My World famous in Wellsford SALMON, OVEN BAKED IN MAPLE SYRUP, getting more popular by the week.

All meals will be served after the Ode at 6.

Remember we are the busiest and most competitive establishment in Wellsford on a Friday night, our kitchen volunteers work bloody hard in the kitchen for you.

TONIGHT AT the Wellsford Wellsford memorial RSA - inc.

VENISON ROAST, slow cooked with a few other surprising additions.
OR
PORK BELLY, again slow oven cooked and crispy topping.

Both served with hot vege or a salad.

We are also at the moment preparing a SEAFOOD CHOWDER as the temperature and weather has been a little on the nose for us. Now this is not the mass prepared "throw in some seafood with a white sauce", this is the real deal, carefully crafted on site by us. Will come served with garlic bread.

Dinners will be served from 6. Please bear in mind that as the orders are all taken at the start of service, some may take a little longer. Remember we are ALL volunteers in the kitchen.

Why dont you come in and enjoy the experience of having an affordable "Wellsford RSA meal" in a busy atmosphere.

FRIDAY NIGHT at the WELLSFORD Wellsford memorial RSA - inc we have these delights for you.

All orders will be taken from after the Ode at 6. Staff will come around so no need to come to the servery.

We will have available:

CORNED BEEF with Poppa's Mustard sauce. Corned beef has become unaffordable unless you do it yourself. We will slowly cook this and will be happy to share it with you. (My favourite)

LASAGNE ala Shirley B. Home prepared and always popular.

As a salute to D-Day we will also have PENTONCLE DE NORMANDIE. To save you referring to Auntie Google that means Roe on scallops in a creamy Normandy sauce.

Everyone welcome. You do not have to be a member if you wish to come in we can sign you in with no cost. You will be very welcome and will enjoy the atmosphere of a busy restaurant and club. Remember that we are the most affordable venue in town.

ROAST BEEF on smashed spud. Served with a red wine gravy and a trip to the veges.
OR
MOULES DE DUNKERQUE NZ greenlipped mussels served in a broth of satay slightly spiced.
Orders taken after the Ode at 1800.
Salad bar will be there as well.

Sorry I am late. Busy preparing for function tomorrow.
Dishes of prominence tonight!
Casserole of BEEF CHEEK. Making a visit again but just as yummy as ever. Served with a cheese mash.
OR
SCALLOP MORNAY With a Garlic roll. We cannot get crumbed ones so we may as well us these ones with the roe on.
Either as an entree or main.
We will have a minestrone soup available for entree if you get cold on the way.

SUNDAY at the WELLSFORD Wellsford memorial RSA - inc.

Mothers Day "Pink Ribbon" Breakfast. Not only can you bring Mum, Grandmother, G/Grandmother or just yourself, out for a treat on Mothers Day.

Come to the Wellsford RSA after 10 (and before 12) and treat them to breakfast that will not break the bank.

Wellsford Lions and the RSA are sponsoring the event, with ALL profits going back into the Community, on this occasion being the Pink Ribbon Appeal.

While we would prefer pre-bookings, we will not turn you away on the day.

Lions will be cooking the dishes for you and quality control will be assured. The Bar will be open as well.

Special dishes for patrons this evening.

You lot are currently being spoiled. A week OT two ago we went through 50 lamb shanks on one of our busiest nights.
Tonight you get to have the Pork equivalent.

PORK SHANKS! Slow cooked throughout the day for you. Served on mash with apple sauce and a light white wine jus. And a trip to the salad bar.
OR
Shirley's home cooked recipe LASAGNE. Always a favourite and sure to disappear on orders.

Don't forget we are ALL volunteers! We were training new crew last and this week so bear with us if mistakes happen. We will minimise them.

Sorry it's later but I was a bit distracted after yesterday's parade.

Special ROAST OF BEEF. You know the type. Long slow oven baked juicy BEEF. Comes with the usual trip to the salad bar or vege.
OR
MUSSELS de DOUAI. A biggish town in France has inspired me for this dish. Fresh cooked and in a sauce you will want to slurp up. Entree or main.

As usual all orders are taken after the Ode at 6.

Yes WE ARE OPEN! (Our Club licence permits us to provide meals etc on this day.)

The Roast of the day is Lamb, long roasted by Shirley to exacting standards. (It is tender and juicy), served with a selection of Veg in the Bain Marie.
The salads will be there as well.
OR
Creamy scallop mornay. Scallops not added till you order so you get the best dish. Either entree or main.

Our whiteboard menu is also available and I know there is Salmon ordered so feel free to order that. We might even have something special for it to come with if I remember to bring them.

Orders taken after the ODE at 6. As always if we are busy some orders take longer.

Dining in specials:

LAMB SHANKS NIGHT - our monthly treat for all you "lovely boys". Takes hours to do these and take minutes to devour. Presented on mash with a red wine Jus (Gravy).
OR
MUSSELs - whole un-shelled greenlipped mussels freshly prepared in a light coriander coconut and wine sauce. Might add some fries to soak up the sauce after.

All the other items on the white board also available. The meals come with a trip to the salad bar included.

Dont forget the Dessert Maestro will also assist your taste buds after. Her servings are to be admired......then eaten.

Dont forget we are all volunteers in the kitchen. We endeavour to get meals out as quick as we can but if there is a bigger wait please forgive us.

TONIGHT at the Wellsford RSA>

Special dishes:

Chook breast stuffed with Cam n bert served on a bed of Coconut Rice, with a mango sauce......you wont easily get this at home! (or any other restaurant either).
OR
Beef Lasagne on Fries. I know, this is a double on carbs but it is a yummy combination.
PLUS......to act as an Entree OR main, Mussel fritters.

All these with a trip to the salad bar

Friends of Denby Caterers would recognize we have been quiet on here lately. What with all the chaos of prices going up we have been trying to adjust.
We are still operating though.
And getting good feedback.
Just this week we operated in a Wellsford Lions club with a "Thank you volunteers" night.

Last night we operated at a "Roof shout" for a large construction site nearing completion. Feedback received was varied.
"Thank you Wellsford Lions & Wellsford RSA
and of course Chef Mark Carrell for the lovely meal for volunteers dinner.
Nice night, nice people, nice community soldiers ❤️"
And
"Thankyou again to you and Christine and your team, absolutely beautiful food and very well done. "
As it was a newish building it had NO kitchen but once again my team pulled off our top level menu on time. Thanks girls.

Day 123. Another day of splendid awesome effort put in by my team here. 67 lunches and 67 dinners. Today mostly roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with mango chook. 1 vegan to serve got a vegan lasagne but it looked plain so we threw some cheese on top. Vegan cheese of course. And just for monsieur Ryan we added some hard boiled eggs for our lunches tomorrow.

Day 121 up here. A wee bit of stress for the team with everything being needed out by 1pm. We did pork belly as the main and some roast pork as well. For the non-porkies we included my fancy mango chicken on coconut rice and salads. Forgot to take photos but we have seen it a few times. (In a local restaurant pork belly is $45 per dish)......enjoy.

Well Merry Christmas to all of you. Yes we are working today and every day but some say this day is special. So today we prepared xmas ham and cranberry Turkey and as a special treat xmas pud and custard. Don't expect that every night though. The vegans dont get the ham and Turkey but their custard is made with coconut milk.

This is day 117 in our marathon quest to provide decent meals to checkpoint staff. Had a new recruit in today to do the uber delivery bit. He was huge! Said that the shanks thre night before were awesome. That is feedback we get off on. For tonights dinners we changed everything and provided easier meals as they all had to be ready by 12.30. Meatballs butter chicken smoked chicken and cashew and salads. Awesome staff work. Old photos as we were too busy to pic them.

Crew has almost finished production of 91 more meals. Mainly chook roast with some ham meals. Bon appetit monsieurs et madames.

We are in training for a big day coming up where we double our dinner output so today we all got stuck in and had 42 pork belly 20 spag bolly and roast beef ready to be picked up by our blue uber delivery boy. Awesome teamwork involved here. We have good teams. Teamwork means assessing the capabilities of all members of the team and working to them. We now look forward to the next challenge.

We get challenged we meet the challenges as best we can. Today we met the challenge of having 81 lunches ready for pickup at 10.30 an hour earlier. With 91 dinners to be ready an hour earlier as well. We could have slept in.....my fantastic crew had the lunches done and dusted by 10. Thank you Jenny and Margaret. Tonights meal was dominated by shanks. For once we worked out how to fit them into our normal containers.

Two days to go......and then we start working for a while. As Sunday is our rest day we slept in sort of. Then we did a resupply run for Wednesday start. Today we are waiting for the blue uber driver to uplift our chook roast for Sunday dinner adding to some chicken and cashew and meatballs dinners.

My apologies for not providing photos for tonight's meals. Despite our best efforts, one of us had to go north to continue the normal functioning of Denby. We are only able to fulfil current contracts and not take on new ones for the time being. Today we had a lunch buffet for a local Whangarei firm's Xmas do. Great people, of course good food.
For the checkpoint staff we pre-prepared a "Pasta Night" when we provided a special meatballs dish (With bacon and Mushrooms) and a chicken and cashew nut linguine. The weather holding out we also put on salads.

How many days left? From 15th we go north and do just the same for another predicted 2 months. Oh well hope they enjoy what we do. Tonight we took out lamb shanks lamb roast and due to the day being so hot a few salads.

12 days to go.....for us it isn't now....watch this space further. Tonight I really peeved the kitchen b # #$%s off by doing my pork belly skins in the trays making them rather difficult to clean.....pouring them a wine made up for it. 51 meals up and gone.
