As someone who has several food allergies and intolerances, when I was looking to get back into business, this time around, I wanted to make food I could eat. I believe my food can be enjoyed by EVERYONE, but for people that have allergies/intolerances, or have made lifestyle changes, then my products will be of particular benefit. There is NO Gluten, Grains, Dairy, Soy, Peanut or Refined Sugar in my products. Most of my products are also Egg Free, the only products with egg in are my Banana Muffins and Almond Meal Crackers. A lot of my products do have nuts and seeds in them. Nuts and Seeds contain phytic acid. Phytic Acid can cause digestive issues in people, and it also prevents your body from absorbing the nutrients and enzymes in the food. 'Activating' nuts and seeds is the process of soaking the nuts and seeds that removes the phytic acid. With the exception of my Almond Meal Crackers and Banana Muffins (I use ground almonds for both these products), I use activated nuts and seeds in my products. I started Andrea's Kitchen as a means to fund my voluntary work with Help for the Homeless, Christchurch. I regularly cook meals and provide takeaway packs for Help for the Homeless, Christchurch and your support and sales will help me to continue to do this work. I have recently started as a volunteer with La Vida Youth Trust, helping with serving breakfast to primary school children before school. I am providing Bacon, Cheese & Egg Toasted Sandwiches and Protein Drinks on the days that I volunteer - also funded by Andrea's Kitchen. The lovely Fiona Deehan from My Fit Foodie Family Life, has started a closed Facebook Group for people that would like to help me with my volunteer work.
