Tips & Tricks - using a mic 🎤
A microphone will be used multiple times at a wedding; during the ceremony, making announcements, wedding speeches, and toasts, it's important that we hear them! 🎉
🎤 Use it. No matter how loud you think you are, always use it! The audio for content or videography might be captured through the mic. If a mic is available, always always use it.
🎤 Use it well. Microphone positioning is key. Talk into the mic, not over it. You want it to capture your voice! Make sure your voice is directed into the mic, hold the microphone properly, and this will help 🗣
🎤 Hold your mic arm still. Now, as someone who uses her hands when she speaks, I know this can be tricky. We want to avoid moving this arm so the mic doesn't move away from our voice. If you start pointing, looking in a different direction, the mic won't be picking up your voice, and we can't hear you!
🎤 The mic will pick up all sounds, not just your voice. Jinglely braclets, paper turning, sniffing, passing the mic from one person to the other. Good practice is to have the MC (or whoever owns the microphone) responsible for turning the mic on/off. So MC announces next speaker, turns it off while everyone is clapping, turns it own, immediately hands it to next speaker, this avoids unnecessary loud noises.
