What a ride..
I started Table Flower Studio in Wellington 7 or 8 years ago. In fact, it kinda all happened by accident after helping friends with their weddings and discovering that I loved flowers, weddings, and being creative every day. Fun fact - my first ever wedding was in a Bridal Magazine, which made me realise I might be good at it too! Thanks
I was only focused on fresh florals for weddings and was growing products in my little garden to incorporate in my bridal pieces. My entire business was based on using the freshest possible flowers for my garden inspired bouquets.
Fast forward a few years, and my number two baby arrived, the big C hit, and I had just moved the business from Wellington to Auckland. It was an insane time trying to figure out my next steps, and I was very close to closing my doors. I even studied teaching as a backup and really had to fight to get any work at all. I struggled through a couple of years and lost all love and drive for the business.
I never would have guessed that a little newborn crown made as a gift for a dear friend would change everything. That one dried crown started a landslide of dried pieces, and the shop was started. Within a year, it was my bread and butter, and I loved being able to be a part of my couples' lives in a different way.
Another fun fact, that flower crown is still one of my best sellers today!
A couple of years on and things are about to change again. I'm finishing up my parental leave with my third little bubba, and I've decided to officially step away from fresh flowers and embrace the world of dried flowers completely.
This means leaving behind the world of 'Day Of Wedding Design' which is where my whole journey began. I'm not sure if this will be forever, or just an 'at this moment' thing, but either way it feels huge for me and I'm excited to see where this ride will take me next.
Thanks for those who've been a client, customer or supporter of me over the years. Thanks for the other half for continuing to push me to keep going.
But most of all thanks to ME...
Because I'm still on the ride, with a wine in hand and flowers at the ready!
I'll be back creating soon!
