Here at Kiwiman HQ, we're passionate about giving back to our land. Each year, we partner with our friends at Big Jims Garden Centre for a green initiative, planting natives at Egmont Village School.
We also have a unique incentive for our most dedicated litter collectors during our event -- a Kowhai tree for the group that gathers the most trash from the roadsides. It's amazing to see the triumphant winner of our trash collection challenge take their Kowhai tree back home to Northland.

Looking back at the Kiwiman Xtreme Triathlon, one moment stands out vividly - the finish line!

Kiwiman feels like one big family, rallying around each participant. At the finish line, the sight of a participant's niece and sister, brimming with pride, warmed everyone's hearts. Their unwavering support undoubtedly fueled the athlete through every challenge.

Crossing that finish line amidst their cheers must is unforgettable experience. Here's to the enduring magic of grassroots events and the unbreakable strength of family bonds!

Meet Cathy and Hayley - the incredible wahine behind the organisation of the Kiwiman Xtreme Triathlon. These two individuals put in immense effort to set up the race course, manage participant registrations and secure sponsorships, provide nourishment to everyone involved, and ensure the smooth operation of the event. Despite appearing fatigued in the photo, it's important to note that this snapshot was taken during a particularly long day lasting 21 hours, with the women being 14 hours deep into their work. It's worth acknowledging their dedication and hard work, especially considering they weren't the ones physically completing the demanding race course like the athletes were.

Thank you Cathy and Hayley for everything you do!! Bring on 2025!

T E S T I M O N I A L - Kiwiman Xtri 2025 Winner - George Littlejohn

I'm not a swimmer! I'm definitely not a cyclist! And I'm not a runner! I'm a Dad, Husband, Cop and a battler who loves giving things a nudge and seeing what my mind and body can do.
Kiwiman has always been on my radar as an event that pushes the Ironman distances further and adds the extremes of:
Pitch black swimming,
Literal Mountainous Cycling and
All terrain running!
Kiwiman is not for the light hearted, it's for those who want to better themselves, push themselves and show themselves that what you put in, you'll get out.
Kiwiman's scenery makes a mockery of Taupo and even sometimes has the ability to take your mind off the pain you're in!
Like I said, I'm not a swimmer, im definitely not a cyclist and Im not a runner....but what I am is a KIWIMAN!
Ill be back........maybe for the double......maybe.

“It was a huge step up from my recent 70.3, but when Kiwiman popped up on my Facebook feed I knew that a simple Ironman was never going to be enough. Comfortably nestled on the couch, I signed up quickly before common sense could get the better of me.
I won't lie to you, there were many times during the long training rides that I was sure I had bitten off more than I could chew. But I pressed on and somehow made the starting line in one piece.
I know that the race was exhausting and painful, but strangely I can only remember enjoying the whole 17 hours of it. Every few kilometres we were riding or running through different terrain and scenery - native bush, mountain climbs, farmland, sandy beach, streamside trail, manicured park, cattle race, country road. I broke the race down into these bite sized chunks, and I actually looked forward to each new section.
It was also a full-on day for my awesome support crew, and working together with them to get me across the finish line really added to the experience, as did the camaraderie of the other athletes and their crews along the way.
I was really happy with my time, but as expected, the post race analysis always reveals minutes that could have been shaved off. I'll probably need to come back..."

T E S T I M O N I A L
So how do you make a race harder than a 140.6? Start the swim at 5.00am in the dark, with eels for company. Extend the bike leg to 196km and include 3400m of climbing for good measure. The run doesn't escape the same treatment. That's 46km with 1260m of elevation change, finishing up a mountain. The race is also not supported by the organisers - you provide your own on-course nutrition, and navigate yourself too. Add in torrential rain for the first 6 hours of the race, and you get Kiwiman Xtreme Triathlon 2024.

This was my third full distance triathlon, by the third different organiser. Each is different, and each got better. At Ironman you feel like a rock star as you leave the water, and that stays with you in the busy sections of the course, but you also feel like just a number. At Ironmaori Toa you feel hounoured to be there, and it's more friendly and inviting than Ironman, but the course lacks that something. Kiwiman trumps both other races in all aspects. At Kiwiman you feel part of the family, right from the first contact with the organisers, to the hugs at the prize giving ceremony. It's equally about the teams. The team of organisers, the team of participants, and the team of support crew and on course marshals, all contributing to this unique and special event.

I'll be back one day for sure.
