Intro
Hi! I'm Mel 👋.
I have been growing flowers and progressively extending my home garden for the past 4 years. My love of growing started as a child, with many fond memories in my grandfather's vegetable garden in my home town, Nelson. My garden journey is one that I am proud of, along with raising children and animals. There is a whole page for this shenanigans 👉.good.life.gardener .
After experiencing a horrific personal loss, my family moved to the Wairarapa to give our children a country life, immersed in nature. We fell in love with our unique peaceful property which includes a hut on an island in a pond *that's a mouthful. Orchards, olive grove, gardens, forest walk, and access to the stunning Ruamahanga river. We share this place with 7 other families, so work is also shared. Nature has been instrumental in my healing.
I am a mother to a 21 year old young man in the NZ Navy, a 12 year old artistic gal who loves cacti and pottery, and a horse mad 10 year old. My hubby hails from Switzerland. He is an all round clever guy. He keeps himself busy with the endless DIY projects. We are both 'busy relaxers', and find joy in improving our home environment.
I studied Floristry in 2022-23, and leaned right into my creativity, and confidence to build a business at home.
I love producing bouquets at local stores in Masterton nz

The feedback I have received this season spurs me on. My customers love my style, colours and presentation.
I have also plunged right into wedding design work, after completing mentoring and workshops. With a natural eye for design and creativity, it has been a pleasure. The people I get to meet through this work are incredible.
I maintain a sustainable model with onsite compost production, little mileage, and natural products. I reuse where possible, and when people choose my flowers, they are buying locally grown within 10 minutes of their purchase.
In my spare time I like to garden, spend time in nature, bush walking, walking the dogs, chilling around the fire pit, or bee keeping.
Thank you for joining me here! I look forward to next season's growth!
