🌼 Poppy appreciation post 🌼
They had one chance to impress and make it to the list for next year.
Happy to say they passed 🙌. What's the trick to getting lovely long stems? Sow them in autumn!
👉🏼 Did you spot how to heat-treat? (about halfway through the video).
Use freshly boiled water to sear the end of the stems. Do this for approx 30 secs then place in fresh water.
See the bubbles rising? That's what helps keep the poppy stay fresher, longer (trapped air in the stem inhibits it ability to drink water). Cool eh!?

I cannot tell you how happy making this bouquet made me today.
It's the first time I've ever worked with Icelandic poppies and wow. I'm HOOKED 😍
I even had one pop it's shell during the making process 😅
It felt like when I first started Bee & Bloom, where I'd make wild and free arrangements with lots of movement and texture, was an a-ha moment (you can see the smiles on my face)
It was absolute bliss making this, and im so happy I filmed it to share it with you.
This is a hand-tied bouquet using the spriral technique, I'm spiraling whilst holding the bouquet in my hand, making sure the stems do not cross when I add each one
