Twig & Arrow Twig & Arrow is the passion of designer florist and stylist Mindy Dalzell and daughter and Director/co owner Gretta Dalzell.

Mindy has over 23 years experience in the floral industry while Gretta has worked in the wedding and events industry for over 8 years. After many years of being an event only service they launched the retail side of Twig & Arrow in 2019. You can find them online or Mon to Sat at their flagship store at 8 Blair Street Te Aro, Wellington.

As I sit here in the last few hours of packing up our things I am filled with gratitude. To everyone who came today to pick up thier claims, give hugs and cards and even some who brought donations for my nieces go fund me. I can’t tell you what you all mean adequately. Our family has been rocked over the last couple of weeks with the news that my niece Mina has a rare form of cancer. My sister Barbara and her beautiful family are struggling right now to deal with the incredible burden of hospital Bills even though they are insured, they live in the states and if anyone knows anything about the medical System there my sister has been a teacher for over 10 years and her husband works in IT. They will have only gotten through the early stages of Mina treatment and nearly exhausted all of their savings so we are asking all of our friends and family to share this and even if it’s $10, please give what you can. The link is in my Instagram bio. I wish all of you health and happiness.

Hello friends, we have some big news to share x
The 1st of July 2024 will be our final day of operations at Blair Street, and as Twig & Arrow. After 24 long years in floristry, through the many ups and downs of this industry, Mindy has decided to finally retire from floristry. This comes at a time when Gretta is currently overseas, and unable to run the business from afar whilst simultaneously experiencing her own career growth over in the UK.

We cherish deeply the connections we have made with customers, vendors and fellow florists, and these are connections we hope to hold onto forever.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this the most rewarding 8 years as Twig & Arrow, and a further 7 years for those customers who have been with us since the Juniper Gallery days.

Ruby is a Wellington based artist who also manages I Love Ugly’s Wellington stores. Her art and poetry is inspired heavily by cinema, music and street art. Ruby’s mediums include acrylic, wheat paste, spray paint, ink, and decoupage. Obesssed with flowers Ruby is learning floristry, which ties in the floral themes found in her work. Twig and Arrow is the perfect venue to convey her thoughts and art. REDHEART exhibition will take place from 10-12th of May, with free entry on the 11th and 12th from 10am-5pm.

K&S could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day at beautiful @boomrocklodge . It was a pleasure to flower and style today for them. I got a peek of the cake as I left by @flourettecakedesign and OMG what a work of art. Massive thanks to my assistant Ruby for all your amazing help today. That’s a wrap for the wedding season. Couldn’t end on a higher note. 🌻

Just a small peek at the before and after of the massive project I have been working so hard on. The replanting in the amazing @the_exchange_wellington . Last friday we were able to complete the largest of the phases. 3 HUGE 2x2m planters, 5x meter long troughs and 5x large pots. Over 70 beautiful plants, 3 giant monsteras, 3 Radermachera sinica. It’s just been incredible. A HUGE thank you to our incredible clients @willisbondnz and @the_exchange_wellington who have trusted us 💯 with this project. Also @monsoonpoon and @glouglou.nz for all of your wonderful encouragement.

Ok so my harvest of potatoes was teeny weeny but then again so is Coco. Be careful Coco, carbs can make you sleepy. #bonappetit 🐶🥔❤️#twigandarrow

I had the best time instructing kids on table centerpieces for Sarah Halewood's Wellington on a plate Ultimate Feast. They made carved pumpkin centerpieces. So impressed how serious they were about getting a great result. And they so did. Thank you to Joanna Gibbs for assisting me and Ethan Dalzell for taking video and pics.

June and I are having a blast creating all the different arches I have designed this season. One of the great things about Sudbury is its incredible Pergola. This design was inspired by a Greecian style dress. I pride myself on not just sticking flowers on something but creating a bespoke look for each couple that reflects the style of the wedding as well as engineering it to hold up to the elements.

Our Story

Twig & Arrow is the passion of senior florist, instructor and stylist Mindy Dalzell. She has two decades of experience in the floral & event industry. Over the years she has lead the movement in sustainable floristry techniques and floral design.

Her approach to education is hands on and helps to demystify the industry. Encouraging her students to find their design voice while learning the fundamentals. Her skills don't stop at flowers though; with a passion for styling, Mindy has had the honour of working with some of New Zealand's finest photographers and brand managers to create eye-catching, unforgettable looks and imagery.

In 2019, with the addition of the retail store in Kelburn, daughter and Chief of Administration and management Gretta Dalzell came on as the second half of the company. Her passion for social media marketing, visual design and management has enabled Twig & Arrow to expand to a multifaceted company - now providing a delivery service, a strong social media presence and aiding in the birth of the retail space.
