Since the founding of dish in 2004 by chef Jenny Parton, our company has grown from a fledgling small business to one of Hawkes Bays most well recognized and professional caterers. In November of 2007 the dish kitchen was re-located to the newly upgraded Hawkes Bay Opera House complex where currently cater for Hawkes Bay’s largest and most glittering events. About Us:
Dish Foods is a leading catering company specialising in providing top-quality culinary experiences for events, corporate functions, and private clients.
We are currently seeking an experienced Chef de Partie to join our dynamic kitchen team.
Job Description:
As Chef de Partie, you will play a key role in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes for a variety of catering events. You’ll work closely with our Head Chef and other team members to ensure each event is a success. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing meals for our guests with special dietary needs, food preparation, and ensuring our standards are met in terms of quality, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook dishes for various events, maintaining consistent quality and presentation
• Planning and executing menus that cater to clients with special dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and allergy-specific diets
• Work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create innovative and flavourful dishes
• Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are strictly followed
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to ensure timely delivery of meals during events
• Monitor stock levels
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a professional kitchen
• Strong knowledge of catering for special diets, including but not limited to vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and allergy-specific diets
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• A passion for food innovation and keeping up with industry trends
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Food safety and hygiene certification
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

About Us
Dish Catering is renowned catering company with over 20 years of experience in the Hawkes Bay, currently holding the exclusive catering contracts at the newly refurbished Toitoi – Arts and Events Centre in Hastings, and the beautiful seaside Napier Conference Centre in the heart of Art Deco Napier.

We specialise in fresh, creative cuisine and cater for events of up to 400 people; our busy venues often have multiple events running at one time.

The Dish culture is very team and family orientated, and we pride ourselves in offering an exceptional dining experience to all clients.

We also have the added bonus of closing over Christmas and New Year period.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the kitchen team in all aspects of food preparation, ensuring high-quality dishes that meet our standards.
• Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, taking into consideration market trends, seasonal availability, and customer preferences.
• Manage kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
• Oversee the ex*****on of culinary events.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior culinary role, with a focus on leadership and kitchen management.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and industry best practices.

A big shout out to all our amazing staff for another big night last night at Toitoi. We served 288 guests at the Fruit Growers dinner. A choice of chicken or beef, my favourite was the beef, which was served with Polenta, jus, beetroot relish, pea salsa and a lovely garnish of sprouts. Sorry no pics this evening, too busy.
