Yesterday was a perfect day for Race 4 of our Caliber Wealth Winter Series! It looked like everyone had a fantastic time on the water, and we saw some great sailing action. A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers for making it all possible. We couldn't have done it without you.

We’re thrilled to share that our own club member, Jo Aleh, was selected as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony in Paris this morning. It’s a proud moment for all of us. Wishing the best of luck to the New Zealand Olympic team, and especially to Jo Aleh and Justina Kitchen our club members.

Caliber Wealth Winter Racing
Our third series of winter racing proved difficult due to light wind conditions once again. We managed to complete one race, but had to abandon the rest of the day's events due to the lack of wind. Despite the challenges, we had a great turnout, and everyone had fun and enjoyed their burgers afterwards.

The next draw on Friday is $350

What is the draw all about?
On Friday nights at the club, there is a members jackpot draw. Every member goes into the draw automatically. A random draw takes place at 6.30pm where one member is drawn.
If they are present they win the jackpot. If not, one more name is drawn.

If the jackpot is not claimed after two names are drawn, it goes up by $50 for the following week.
After the jackpot reaches $850 and remains unclaimed it jumps to $1000 and must be won. Names are drawn until claimed.

Are you up for the challenge???

The King of the Waitemata is a counter-clockwise - 37km circumnavigation of Auckland's Rangitoto and Motutapu Islands, open to all foiling and skiff classes.

The 2024 edition of the race will be held on Sunday 21st April at Takapuna Boating Club.

Entries are now open, but get in quickly as it is strictly limited to 50 entries.
Each entrant must be capable of completing the course in under 3 hours.

All competitors must check in at Takapuna Boating Club.
Compulsory safety briefing at 10:00
Time of first warning signal 12.00

Prizegiving following the completion of racing at Takapuna Boating Club with the bar open for drinks and food to purchase.

To Enter:

Entry fee: $45 (free for Takapuna Boating Club Members)
Entry fee after 15th April: $60 (subject to availability)

Entries are open for the 2024 Vaikobi Auckland King & Queen Of The Harbour set for Saturday 11th May at Takapuna Boating Club.

Register now for Aotearoa's premier oceanski event, which also includes Waka Ama and SUP categories. This event will see the country's best and keenest paddlers enjoying world class paddling on the spectacular Hauraki Gulf and Waitemata Harbour.

There will be a multiple long course options between 18-24km all finishing at Takapuna Beach, with the course decided in the week prior to maximise the best downwind conditions.
A 6km short course will also be available, starting and finishing at Takapuna Boating Club, as well as a 3km course which is the age group race of U14 and U12 paddlers. We have a small number of beginner level ocean skis available for loan for 6km and 3km courses.

This event is the final race of the 2023/24 Darcy Price NZ Ocean Ski Series.

Takapuna Beach Cup is hosted at one of Auckland's best beaches. Racing takes place on the Hauraki Gulf which offers paddlers clean waters, stunning views and a chance to paddle around one of New Zealand's iconic extinct volcanoes, Rangitoto.

The Takapuna Beach Cup is New Zealand’s Premier 3-Day Outrigger Paddle Festival, attracting teams from throughout New Zealand and a feature event in the International Outrigger Circuit. The Event is run from Takapuna Beach.

🚣‍♂️ On Tuesday, we shared a dawn paddle to Rangitoto Island and back with our Takapuna Boating Club community. The flotilla included Outrigger Canoes (Waka Ama), surf skis, kayaks, NZ police, NZ Coast Guard, and small boats.

It was heartening to see people from various cultures coming together on this special Waitangi Day, demonstrating partnership, friendship, and a shared love for the ocean. Special thanks to Kamatua Bill Kapea, Māori leaders, Waka Ama clubs, Council and Govt representatives, Toni van Tonder, Richard Hills, Terence Harpur and Simon Watts MP for North Shore for making this day memorable.

Grateful for the unity and connection felt throughout the day. 🤝🌊

Absolutely thrilled to share that our last day of the Flying Dutchman and 470 Nationals was a huge success! 🌊🏆 The teams put in so much hard work and dedication, and it truly paid off. The water was stunning, and the results were even better! 🎉

Big congratulations to everyone involved! 🥳 Thank also to all our volunteers, this would not be possible without you all. Our lovely ladies have done another fantastic job running the BBQ.
