[FROM WILLOW 🐾] What a busy, exciting and amazing time of year! Our Christmas Display is closed now but it was so fun to see everyone explore the gardens, especially the dogs and little ones who played on the rocking reindeer! We're so happy you came to visit!
It's not over for the Christmas Display, because as soon as we closed yesterday, my mum Jema started whisking the display over the garden in front of our cottage to surprise Rebecca. She was very surprised to see our garden turn into a little Christmas Display for us.
There's also a new addition to Hemsworth Farm just in time for Christmas. Belle our white chicken, just hatched one baby chick! The chick is very sweet and fun to watch them chirp and explore the farm together. But I can't get too close or Belle will peck at me!
I'm very excited for Christmas today, I've been helping my mum Rebecca do all the preparing of yummy things in the Kitchen. And I hear there's extra special treats planned for Yve and me.
Plus there's the wrapping paper! Is there anything truly more fun than tearing up wrapping paper? I really don't think there is. I told Santa Paws I have been very good (even though I have been sneaking into the sheep pens to snack on their poops...) so hopefully I get spoilt rotten today!
My mums say I should especially thank you for all your support this year. Without you choosing to make memories at Hemsworth Estate, my mums wouldn't be able to spoil me so much! So thank you very very much! We all wish you a Merry Christmas and can't wait to see you again in the new year.
Love from,
Willow, Yve, Rebecca and Jema

Dearest Gentle Reader,
The ladies of Hemsworth Estate are set to host their annual Country Ball on February 22nd of the year 2025. The anticipation of certain ton members is reaching a new eagerness unknown before to this author. With only a limited amount of invitations to be sent out to an exclusive list on Tuesday 17th December, and an announcement to the general Ton the following day, a crush of an evening is evident.
It is with the greatest authority I can say, the ladies have outdone themselves with the planning of their latest soiree. I have on the highest authority the evenings' entertainment will include:
🕴️Welcome by our butler, and a dance card allocated.
🥂A complimentary themed cocktail upon arrival.
🐎A grand entrance via Horse and Carriage.
👗A Formal Promenade has also been included in the evening's entertainment for those who wish to see their modiste's handiwork shine in the spotlight.

💃And a selection of two alumni dances from the previous ball, and two new dances have been added to the repertoire.
This author will continue to update you with the most accurate information regarding the evening's affairs.
Stay watchful for my next edition, where you can secure your exclusive invitation to the 2025 Country Ball.
Yours faithfully,
Lady Whistledown

It was a delight to host you! We're open Saturday and Sunday for Afternoon Tea from 1:00-4:00pm as well!
And well done to everyone who tried the Rosemary shortbread. Not a single piece came back to the kitchen so I think we can safely say "genius" and not "weird" 😉

Coming to our Christmas Garden Display and Afternoon Tea this weekend? Here's how to navigate the Beach Road Closures 👇🏻
We recommend going down Wakanui road, and turning right onto Cochranes road. You will still see a "Road Closed" sign but as you're visiting a resident (us! 😉) navigate around the road cones and continue right onto beach road. We're just up on the right hand side!
Our carpark will be open slightly further down from the main entrance and parking signs out. If a member of your party has low mobility, feel free to open the main gates and drop your party off at reception, then continue around to the small grass carpark under the trees.
Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-4pm for our Christmas Garden Display and Afternoon Tea. And also open for our first Twilight session from 5-8pm Friday night!
Looking forward to seeing you all.

The Ladies of Hemsworth Estate have been very industrious this holiday season as they undertake the difficult task of tasting vintage wines for the upcoming 2025 Country Ball. Rest assured gentle ton, only the highest quality libations shall be served 🥂
Much gratitude indeed to Point Bush Ecosanctuary for the generous case the proffered.
Wondering what your husband, boyfriend or masucline style clothing partner should wear to a Bridgerton themed ball? It's Jemas turn! Making a Bridgerton Outfit from masculine style clothing is even easier than a feminine style! Which would you wear? 🧐
Here's how she did it 👇
1. Grab a base layer of white shirt, and pair of tan Chinos.
2. Choose a waistcoat, and tuck the tips under to create the Regency style. Also put on a pair of boots or dress shoes at this point.
3. Borrow a silk scarf or dress sash from your partner or buy some wide ribbon. Tie it around your neck, keeping the collar up.
4. Put on your jacket and pop the collar. Now you're Bridgerton ready!
Need inspiration for your D.I.Y Bridgerton Costume? Here's what Rebecca did 👇
1. Choose a long dress with a waistband you can tuck into your bra or or that has a high waist line already.
2. Cut a long peice of ribbon and tie around your waist.
3. Pin your hair up in a way that suits you.
4. Add more ribbon to your hair, as a necklace.
5. Give it a twirl test!
What do you think?
Our Christmas Garden Display closed today, and the first thing Jema did was whisk all the installations to our cottage garden to surprise Rebecca! ☃️ See their new spot in our cottage garden. Happy Christmas Eve indeed 💓
Is this your vibe? Don't miss your chance to dance the night away like it's 1813! 💃🏻Tickets are on sale now for our 2025 Country Ball and... it's a Masquerade 🎭
This is your sign to come to Hemsworth Estate for one of our LAST Afternoon Teas of 2024. (Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm) We're also open tonight for a twlight session from 5:00-8:00pm
Happy 2nd Birthday Willow 💗 1:21 of birthday antics. Any fur-babies that visit for afternoon tea over the next few days will also receive a special birthday cake made by Willow and us!
Just a reminder there's only TWO Sundays before Christmas 👀 Our Christmas display and Afternoon Tea is open for both of them from 1-4pm
so 💬 start the group chat because Christmas is right around the corner.
Our Christmas display is coming together! Starting tomorrow you'll be able to explore out gardens finding 7 different Christmas installations hand made by Jema and Rebecca using repurposed, recycled and upcycled materials all made to be viewed in daylight from Tuesday to Sunday from 1-4pm and twilight on Friday from 5-8pm. Are you coming? Tell us below! 👇🏻
If you saw our story asking for manky pillows and thought "what the?" You're not the only one! All of our Christmas display installations are made by Jema and Rebecca and using as much second hand and repurposed materials as possible. We're still accepting your old pillows if you have any!

About Hemsworth Estate
Built in the early Edwardian era, Hemsworth Estate truly stops time. For over one hundred and thirty years it has been a space to enjoy, grow up and celebrate including milestone birthdays, and weddings for over three generations.
Five minutes from Ashburton and only an hour away from Christchurch, Hemsworth Estate is one of the closest retreats for any private occasion. Set on fifty eight acres of land, and originally the first Hampshire Sheep endeavors in the country, the family has enjoyed it’s private, nurturing respite with only the sounds of nature to interrupt.
Hemsworth Estate seems to be designed for celebrating. Set in a sheltered circle of centennial trees, the lawns and gardens are open and inviting for any kind of event. From a large gathering to a small intimate celebration, we have created various spaces to cater to any event. There are five choices available to host your celebration – The Lawn, The Garden, The Greene, The Dining Room and The Drawing Room. Starting from an intimate party of ten and catering all the way up to three hundred, there is a celebration for everyone at Hemsworth. All that’s required is your special idea.
Margie Hulse is the third generation to be the steward of the property. Based in Christchurch, as a Business Strategist and Coach, Margie added a new project to her life and has been working tirelessly on the renovation so see it return to its former Edwardian glory.
Margie also got married at Hemsworth and described it like a step back in history and tradition. Celebrating with a reception with over two hundred people on the lawn in the gardens in which she grew up playing in was only adding to her wonderful memories there.
Rebecca Hulse is part of the second generation of grandchildren to grow up enjoying Hemsworth Estate. Based in Christchurch, Rebecca has traveled the world planning events for Access Consciousness. It was through this work she realised she would also like to plan events for the special moments in people’s lives.
Rebecca and her brother Sam also had birthdays here and they both say they were the best birthdays they had. She also celebrated her Granny’s eightieth birthday in the rose garden of Hemsworth and shared it was one of the most beautiful birthdays she attended.
She hopes to see Hemsworth Estate be a space where memories are shared not only for her and her family but for anyone wishing to celebrate in quiet tranquility, savoring the moment.
