This February, audiences across Aotearoa will be treated to four pristine performances from Australia’s finest post-rock exports, Twine. Traveling over three thousand kilometers to deliver some of the most raucous, devastating rock ‘n’ roll you’ll hear all year, Goose Garden is thrilled to welcome one of our all-time favorite bands to New Zealand.

Twine’s return to our shores coincides with the release of their highly anticipated new LP, Old New Horse—a bolt of lightning expertly captured in the studio by band member Matthew Schultz and mixed by Alex Farrar (who has previously collaborated with Snail Mail, MJ Lenderman, Waxahatchee, and more).

Locals will have four chances to catch Twine this summer, performing alongside some of our finest homegrown acts.

Baldleaf single release w/ Mall Goth, Park Flyers

June 20

Having only been playing together since January, Baldleaf have caused quite the stir in our city. The four piece shoegaze quartet melted hearts at the inaugural Otisfest, now they’re back with a new single and a new setlist. This is one of the most exciting new groups in Te Whaganui-a-Tara, don’t miss your chance to see these budding guitar heroes early in their career.

Joining us in support of the cause is Casey Strachan’s “eyeliner rock” project Mall Goth. The fun-loving quartet show off a potent mix of 90s alternative and modern absurdism (a bit like California’s The Garden), with shredding guitar parts that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Sonic The Hedgehog soundtrack.

To kick off the evening, we’re bringing Midwest emo’s Park Flyers to the San Fran stage. The duo are a fresh import straight out of Mount Maunganui, and it’s time we gave them the warmest of welcomes.

Tickets available from https://moshtix.co.nz/v2/event/baldleaf-single-release-w-mall-goth-park-flyers/166500

Baldleaf’s new single, “Thousand Lies” is available June 15th. Pre-save the song on Spotify now.

“They’re back… they’re all coming back”

GOOSE GARDEN PRESENTS: Ringlets, Dale Kerrigan, Macho Macho, Feshh

SAN FRAN, JULY 12th

More than the best post-punk group the island has seen since the 1980s, more than Tāmaki Makaurau’s most virtuosic guitar player, more than the tightest rhythm section in the scene today. If there ever was a group that the term “one to watch” applied to, it’s Ringlets. Goose Garden is delighted to be bringing the quartet back to Cuba street for round two, along with some of their best buds.

If you haven’t heard of Dunedin’s masters of noise, Dale Kerrigan, then you’ve clearly been living under a rock. A hundred or so rabid fans were able to see the band at CubaDupa last year, and about twice that were stuck outside unable to get in. This July, we’re giving those unlucky punters a second chance to see Te Waipounamu’s finest live act perform loud on the world class San Fran stage.

Since they made Te Whanganui-a-Tara their home in 2018, you’ve claimed Macho Macho as your own. Over the last half-decade, they’ve become one of the our city’s most talked about rock groups, often being called the most exciting live show Te Aro has to offer. On July 12th, the band are delivering one final blow before taking some well deserved time off from the stage. Secure your ticket today to make sure you don’t miss out on the last Macho Macho show for quite some time, before they hunker down and go “studio only”.

Feshh are our new favourite local band. Shifting in 2023 from Auckland to Wellington, they quickly caught the attention of the local scene. We were cemented as fans at Camp A Low Hum where entranced onlookers saw them tear up their main stage set. This isn’t your ordinary shoegaze outfit, they’re something a bit different; tongue in cheek samples, a healthy dose of saturation and Lilith Ercolano’s mesmerising vocal production all sitting at the centre of their sound.

If I were you, I’d be getting a ticket right this instant. We’re in for a gathering of the nation’s best live acts, all going down in the best venue in the world.

On May 23rd, Goose Garden’s acclaimed Thursday series returns to San Fran with sets from “sapphic rage” post-punk band Maiden Name, pop-punk heavy hitters Roo, and local indie rock favourites Debt Club.

Maiden Name () have carved themselves an impressive pedestal in Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s music scene since their 2022 debut. A tasteful marriage of gothic conventions (akin to bands like Joy Division or Women) and crushing heaviness (a la Boris), Goose Garden is delighted to be bringing them back to the San Fran stage.

After calling time on their previous more indie/folk angled work, Rose Lubransky’s new group Roo () presents heavy, cathartic music with high integrity. Backed by a red hot four piece supergroup, Lubransky flys higher than ever before in this group. You wouldn’t be mad to call them Wellington’s Paramore.

Debt Club () is the songwriting outlet of Bleeding Star’s River Ellen. You’ll recognise River from a handful of projects that play in our city. In this kitchen, though, chef Ellen sprinkles in flavours of earnest emo & romanticised indie rock. A perfectly balanced dish prepared by Te Aro’s master of taste.
