Foraged Flora is a small cutting garden in the South Wairarapa, north east of the small township of Featherston.

The philosophy of the business is to provide affordable, sustainably grown , seasonal flowers to the local community. All flowers and foliage grown on our property are organically grown and we work with other flower farmers to bring you flowers throughout the year. Our posies and bunches are available for sale at Adamsons Service Station in Featherston, Pinehaven in Greytown and Mobil in Carterton.

Happy winter solstice!
Manawatia a Matariki 😊 Today we celebrate the light returning, even though we won’t notice it for a while at least it won’t get any darker in the mornings so that’s a win! 👍🏼
As much as I love the beautiful winter flowers I’m looking forward to spring bulbs which aren’t too far away 🤞🏻

Slim pickings at this time of year as most of the cutting garden beds have been put to bed. So grateful for these beautiful early freesias from Van de Puts Flowers in Greytown to see me through. 😊

In the UK Mother’s Day is known as Mothering Sunday, a tradition which dates back to the 17th century. I prefer this name as it’s more inclusive and we all have so many Mother figures in our lives and they all deserve beautiful flowers 💐 Happy Mothering Sunday!

Easter flower colours are typically yellow and pink. These are the colours of spring and the tradition comes from the Northern hemisphere but doesn’t really work so well in Aotearoa where autumn 🍂 tones seem much more seasonal!

Whatever your preference Happy Easter 🐣 and remember to celebrate with flowers 💐 + chocolate!

Happy Autumn Equinox! From here on in the nights are longer than daylight hours but there’s lots to like about winter ❄️ No more 5am starts to pick flowers to beat the heat and evenings spent with flowering books and seed catalogues! 😁

Definitely feels like a change in the seasons, the nandinas are colouring up nicely but it’s after 7am and the suns ☀️ not up yet!

A beautiful colour palette for a late summer wedding today, not quite autumnal but almost, great choice 😊 thanks for the gorgeous flowers to work with from our amazing local flower farmers 🙏

Finally it’s zinnia season! They’ve been a bit late this year but have definitely arrived in all their summer glorious colours. 😊
