Foraged Flora Foraged Flora is a small cutting garden in the South Wairarapa, north east of the small township of Featherston.

The philosophy of the business is to provide affordable, sustainably grown , seasonal flowers to the local community. All flowers and foliage grown on our property are organically grown and we work with other flower farmers to bring you flowers throughout the year. Our posies and bunches are available for sale at Adamsons Service Station in Featherston, Pinehaven in Greytown and Mobil in Carterton.

So last year I had an aphid infestation on my anemones. This spring I decided to enlist the help of these guys and so far so good 👍🏼 They’re a parasitic wasp which lay their eggs inside the aphid and the larvae 🐛 hatch and eat the internal contents of the aphid killing it. All sounds a bit gruesome but so far it’s working like a treat. 😊

It’s been great being able to source beautiful fresh flowers during winter from the warmer parts of the Motu but always exciting when our own local Wairarapa growers flowers start to bloom again 😊 First off the rack are beautiful anemones from The Acreage (Carterton), my own ones are not too far away either - the light is slowly creeping back in the mornings too 👏

July always feels like we’re in the depths of winter ❄️ to me! There’s so little flowering at this time it makes the ones that do all the more beautiful. 😊 Thanks Carl & Simone for these stunning cymbidium orchids. I think the green might be my favourite but the pinks are lovely too. They’ll only be around for another 6 or 7 weeks so enjoy them while you can. 😊

Happy winter solstice!
Manawatia a Matariki 😊 Today we celebrate the light returning, even though we won’t notice it for a while at least it won’t get any darker in the mornings so that’s a win! 👍🏼
As much as I love the beautiful winter flowers I’m looking forward to spring bulbs which aren’t too far away 🤞🏻
