This is a cocktail party we lit at Tākina a few weeks ago. This is what we love to do the most: bring a vibe to the space.

Working with our good mates we created some lovely structures using our pixel tube which they then came through and dressed, resulting in some great communal spaces and photo opportunities.

We also did a pretty involved stage lighting package with Oceania Productions on audio/AV and an absolutely stunning bar highlight.

The photos look stunning because Maeve O'Connell took them, of course!

👀 at a cocktail function we did at Shed 6.

This sort of thing is our absolute jam, working with our mates Horrobin & Hodge to transform a space in such a unique way.

Joshua Tucker-Emerson led the design from us using a full fleet of LED fixtures including room gobo wash, chandeliers, bar highlights, and of course the striking backdrop to the stage, not to mention all of that truss.

Take a 👀 at this private event the other week at the historic Rongomaraeroa Te Marae at Te Papa.

With an extensive in-house lighting system already we knew we had to bring something different to this, so we thought to to light the already impressive windows from the outside balcony.

Combined with our film panels to bounce light up into the rest of the space, this effect absolutely transformed the venue and was delivered in under two hours.

💥New Gear Alert💥

We took delivery of the new ETC Eos Apex 5 earlier this year and we've finally been able to get some pics as it's barely been in the shop!

Here you see lighting designer Alex Fisher using it on the upcoming WITCH Music Theatre production of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet Of 1812, opening later this week at the Hannah Playhouse.

💡Busy Season💡

It comes as no surprise to any of you that it's been a hectic few months for all of us. Let's share a quick snapshot of Grouse's Saturday the 16th of March to showcase this!

7 Lighting Rigs out (no particular order hehe)
1 - Hatupatu - Taki Rua
2 - TĀWHIRI Warehouse - Aotearoa NZ Festival of the Arts
3 - Site Lighting - WOMAD New Zealand
4 - Site Lighting & Power - Jim Beam Homegrown
5 - Rock Stage - Homegrown
6 - Park Stage - Homegrown
7 - Big Dry Hre - Auckland Arts Festival

Some rough maths makes me think we had close to 💥900💥 fixtures out at that time, from the humble 10W LED flood up to the mighty Ayrton Eurus. Not to mention the amount of truss, cable, and infrastructure to run it all. That is just nuts.

A massive thanks to everyone who has worked with Grouse over this period, from clients through to suppliers and contractors we absolutely could not have done it without you.

Throwback to our New Years:

We were approached to do this beautiful wedding in Queenstown and jumped at the opportunity. The illustrious Joshua Tucker managed it from our end with a fair bit of interfacing with the client and major overseas stakeholders to deliver some of the most beautiful work you'll see. This is only a small selection of the work we did over 4 days.

Thanks to Colin Cowie Lifestyle & their expert team for bringing us on board.

Pretty neat to get a mention in Wedding Style as well: https://www.weddingstylemagazine.com/wedding-ideas/real-weddings/a-destination-wedding-in-new-zealand-planned-by-colin-cowie

Hello! Been a while huh?

Our year has been hectic so far and there are so many gigs to talk about but the one that has been occupying my mind at the moment is The Kia Mau Festival which ends in a few days.

We've been involved with the festival since the beginning and it's so exciting to see what it has turned into.

We've been all over the place these last few weeks supplying lighting and rigging and some crewing to pretty much every show in their program and it's so great to be involved with some of the best technical and creative people New Zealand has to offer and to support such a stunning festival with the right vibes for Wellington.

This article is much more eloquent than I am in showing the merits of such a festival in Wellington.

Kia Mau Festival

The capital is bursting with the best vibes in the country right now. The reason? Kia Mau.

Blossom Valley!

Now we've had a chance to clean the mud off some of the 375 + LED fixtures and the associated cable & rigging from this 1 month long install it's time to reflect.

If you live in Wellington you've no doubt seen social media aflutter with some stunning pictures of Aston Norwood Gardens and we were glad to be back for the second year of lighting up the 14 acres and over 200 cherry trees while providing power to numerous amenities throughout the site.

All of the team here was involved in this mammoth effort to install and maintain a massive lighting infrastructure to not only allow patrons to enjoy the gardens at night but also to safely traverse the pathway in some pretty bad weather and we're so pleased with how it turned out.

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of working with Tāwhiri at Te Whaea to do a dinner event for Studio Pacific Architecture. It was lovely to work with such a creative team and these images really show the impact lighting can have on a space.

Did you know that using lasers is heavily regulated in New Zealand? According to AS/NZS IEC 60825.3:2016, every laser show over a certain power level should include a designated Laser Safety Officer (LSO) and is subject to paperwork.

Grouse Lighting is proud to be a member of the International Laser Display Association (ILDA) with Production Manager Rowan McShane having completed his internationally recognized LSO certification, making us one of the few companies in New Zealand with these qualifications 💥💥

A few weeks ago we were brought in to light up the Wellington Railway Station to commemorate one year until New Zealand and Australia host the FIFA Women's World Cup. This fantastic building has been on the Grouse list of things to light in Wellington for a while so we're obviously stoked to get the opportunity.

Big thanks to all the team & suppliers involved, it was terrible weather the whole week and the 60 + IP rated led fixtures held up admirably.
