I’m fortunate enough to operate a camera for different events but I gotta admit this particular event had substance. The conversations had by the Port Moresby Rapatona Community showed that the people care about the future and what should be left for the next generation 🤌🏽

We’ve all the heard the saying “Mahn Game” sometimes it’s a good thing and other times it isn’t.
When operating a camera you can sometimes be standing in the same position for a long period of time and not notice. This can put strain on certain muscles that don’t usually get worked. Learnt that the hard way 😅
Stretch before and after an event and when moving gear opt to make a few more trips instead of trying to carry everything at once 😂
Pretty stoked to have worked a job at the Parliament for 2 Days 🤙🏽
It’s nice to see businesses invest in their employees. Finding affordable rental accommodation in Port Moresby is challenging. Good on you SP Brewery for refurbishing your property for your staff to occupy👏🏽

On the job with By a Geologist Ltd we were having a signal issue where the color in camera didn’t look right.
After a few minutes of online research we found out that not all inputs are the same even though they may have the same type of connector. There are 2 color signals that are supported via HDMI which are YUV and YUV+RGB.
What’s the difference? YUV signal inputs are designed for Laptops and YUV+RGB are designed for Video Cameras.
With that I was able to put 2 and 2 together and video signal issues are no more.
Got another chance to Video switch for By a Geologist Ltd This actually was the calm before the storm as the best part of this program was the warm-up 😆
Jules Uvia and Shane Dancer Gogo got ear bashed by my continuous instructions 🤣 Clear and concise instructions are key but it also helps when you’ve worked with the same group for a while, you tend to read each others minds 🤞🏽
Got told at the last minute that I had to run a stream for By a Geologist Ltd I’ll be honest I was worn as we had just finished one event and had to setup and do a test stream right after.
I’m new to the game of video switching but did have a bit of experience with operating a camera. It pays to understand the type of shot(s) the director wants (this can be subject to their creativity)
There are thousands of videos on how to operate cameras and video switch on YouTube but the best way to learn is to get hands on.
What was supposedly meant to be a 1 hour setup left us leaving at 5am the next day 💀 The team really pulled through for this one, I was just an extra man 🐨
Planning an event is key whether big or small. The plan doesn’t have to be detailed all the time but there has to be a gameplay. Having these conversations with clientele whether or not they know what they want is good practice.
Don’t be afraid to ask/converse with the client 🤌🏽
It’s awesome when you get paid to do what you love. What’s even better is when what you’re doing leaves a positive impact. This event was for the Rapatona Community 🤌🏽

Live Sound needs taken care by and Blue7Team Events & Productions provided TV’s and Draping.
In my opinion I find it challenging to mix acoustic duos as there is less. The act depends on you giving them a full sound and vice versa.
This was a nice simple setup for Richard Antony Aluvula and William Gabi who performed a soothing rendition of Ben E. Kings “Stand by me” 🤌🏽
Ritch Antony brought the speakers and I helped out with the little bits. I’m sure you’ve had moments where the little things can ruin an event.
Everyone chases perfection but the real ones know that perfect doesn’t exist. From a sound guys perspective one thing I try to avoid as much as possible is FEEDBACK.
Speakers, microphones and the room react differently causing feedback. The easiest way to avoid feedback is to have your microphone/other input sources as far back behind your Front of House Speakers. Not every venue is ideal, if this is the case you can always use a GEQ/PEQ to find the problem frequencies and notch them out by 1-2db depending.
Try to avoid taking out too many frequencies as you do not want to lose the body of your input signal.

We all had a good laugh about it after the phone call but then realized we had to deliver. Despite all the tell tale signs that we should have stopped we didn’t and made do. By a Geologist Ltd eventually made it and mixed The Rock Band “Undecided”. The event was hosted by Abus Na Kumu up at to commemorate fallen PNG Pukpuks players over the years.
