Planning an event is key whether big or small. The plan doesn’t have to be detailed all the time but there has to be a gameplay. Having these conversations with clientele whether or not they know what they want is good practice.

In my opinion I find it challenging to mix acoustic duos as there is less. The act depends on you giving them a full sound and vice versa.

Everyone chases perfection but the real ones know that perfect doesn’t exist. From a sound guys perspective one thing I try to avoid as much as possible is FEEDBACK.
Speakers, microphones and the room react differently causing feedback. The easiest way to avoid feedback is to have your microphone/other input sources as far back behind your Front of House Speakers. Not every venue is ideal, if this is the case you can always use a GEQ/PEQ to find the problem frequencies and notch them out by 1-2db depending.
Try to avoid taking out too many frequencies as you do not want to lose the body of your input signal.

We all had a good laugh about it after the phone call but then realized we had to deliver. Despite all the tell tale signs that we should have stopped we didn’t and made do. By a Geologist Ltd eventually made it and mixed The Rock Band “Undecided”. The event was hosted by Abus Na Kumu up at @redrockbar to commemorate fallen PNG Pukpuks players over the years.
