"One thing that truly concerns me is that many hurtful comments come from fellow transgender women." - Queen Philippines 2024 candidate Samantha Amelia Roberts.

This is the first time I've faced online ridicule and cyberbullying. Contrary to what some may think, I'm not hurt by the comments labeling me as "gorang" or "uncle".
My muscular arms, which some have commented on, aren't just about appearance; they're a symbol of the strength I use every day to support and care for my patients as a physical therapist.
I have also proudly stated my age—49 years old—during the screening because it's my wealth of life experience that led me to join this pageant.
It takes courage to enter a pageant where physical appearance often takes center stage. Although throughout my life, no one has ever made me feel small because I'm a woman of many achievements.
However, I won't claim superiority over those hurling hurtful comments, tungod sa kung unsa akong mga naabot sa kinabuhi. But what sets me apart from you is that I don't spend a single second of my day leaving hurtful comments about people I don't know, or judging anyone online.
And if there's one thing that truly concerns me is that many hurtful comments come from fellow transgender women. As a community that faces discrimination, it's disheartening to see us turning
against each other.
Let's reflect: When we perpetuate hurtful stereotypes and judgments within our own community, aren't we adding to the very discrimination we fight against?
