🪡 Designing Through Grief: The Filipiniana Bolero Project That Tested My Patience & Passion 🪡

Earlier this year, I was tasked to design and produce over 70 Filipiniana bolero jackets. While it wasn’t our biggest project, it turned out to be one of the most emotionally charged and creatively challenging ones for me and my team.

At the time of the design presentation, we were still grieving my dad’s passing. But work didn’t stop. I laid down several fabric options—including the delicate beige Gasar—along with carefully curated tribal prints. I also presented different design approaches, hoping to strike that balance between elegance, modernity, and Filipino identity. Eventually, we aligned on a singed-waist bolero with modern mestiza sleeves, designed to flatter all body types—even curvier frames—and bring out a strong, graceful silhouette.

Throughout the process, we faced demanding feedback, and even sarcastic comments from some staff members who didn’t fully understand why I and their coordinating team agreed on this particular direction. And while that part was tough, we didn’t let it derail us. We focused on the goal—and in the end, we delivered the full project ahead of schedule.

This experience was a clear reminder: no matter how much effort you pour in, you can’t please everyone. But what matters most is staying true to your craft, your values, and finishing strong with integrity and grace.

"Find Your Perfect Dress Today" – Only at Jaymie’s Fashion Shop

👗 Here’s one unforgettable look from one of our beautiful clients who took on a major role as a wedding sponsor—or ninang—in a high-profile wedding here in Laguna. Knowing that many of the other sponsors were respected political figures, she wanted a gown that would help her stand tall with grace and confidence.

🌾 We designed this flowing rustic orange gown to highlight both her warm personality and her refined taste. The color was a stunning choice—not too loud, but definitely striking. It complemented the outdoor garden venue beautifully and gave off a classy, modern Filipina charm.

🧵 The dress features soft tulle layers for volume and movement, a plunging neckline detailed with delicate gold lace applique just the right amount of sparkle, and flutter sleeves that added femininity without being too sweet. She radiated elegance and poise—and most of all, she felt proud and empowered.

💬 Yun feeling ba na “Nakaka-proud isuot,” and it truly showed. We’re so happy to have been a part of her special moment.👍🫰

👰 From Classic to Sexy: The Two-Way Wedding Gown That Stole Our Hearts

Every now and then, I get to create a gown that feels extra special—and this one definitely made it to the list of my personal favorites. This two-way wedding dress was designed with dual moods in mind: a soft, romantic ceremony look, and a bold, fashion-forward style for the celebration. It features a removable outer tulle bolero bodice that transforms the look completely. When the bolero is taken off, it becomes a daring see-through sleeveless dress with lace appliqué that delicately covers only the bust—making it subtly sexy, yet still classy.

✨ Why I Love This Design
As a designer, I always try to give brides the best of both worlds—something beautiful for the walk down the aisle and something stunning for the party. This dress gave that freedom without the need for a full outfit change. The transformation was quick, effortless, and the effect? Jaw-dropping. It also reflects how modern brides are embracing individuality and pushing traditional boundaries while still holding on to timeless elegance.

In every fairy tale, a guiding hand helps the hero shine. For this special prom, I had the honor of being both a godfather and a designer—creating a suit fit for an Enchanted Forest theme. Just like Cinderella’s fairy godmother wove magic into her gown, I poured creativity, craftsmanship, and heart into this one-of-a-kind suit.

✨ A Suit Straight Out of a Fairy Tale ✨

The design was carefully crafted to capture the mystical charm of an enchanted forest. The intricate floral embroidery symbolizes the beauty of nature, as if the vines and flowers themselves came to life. The shimmering embellishments resemble morning dewdrops glistening under moonlight, while the gold detailing adds a regal touch—fit for a fairy tale prince.

One of the most enchanting elements is the flowing cape, giving an ethereal, dreamlike presence. It transforms the suit into something magical, as if my godson had stepped right out of a legendary storybook. This isn't just a suit—it’s a portal to a world where dreams come true.

Seeing him wear this creation with confidence and grace was a proud moment for me. It’s proof that fashion isn’t just about fabric and thread—it’s about bringing fantasies to life.

✨ A Bridgerton-Inspired Gown for a UP High Prom Queen—A Personal Journey 👑✨

Some gowns hold more than just stitching and embellishments—they carry stories, struggles, and triumphs. This design, for one of my UP High student clients, was exactly that.

🎀 A Dress That Commands Attention

When she came to me, she had a vision: elegance with a bold twist. Inspired by Bridgerton’s regal fashion, I knew I wanted to create something that exuded romance, power, and modern sophistication. The empire-cut bodice, adorned with gold lace appliqué, was a nod to classic luxury. The pink satin fabric flowed beautifully, while the feathered sleeves and front slit revealing a gold underskirt gave it a contemporary edge. Every detail was crafted to make her feel like a true prom queen. 👸✨

👗 A Personal Touch—Perseverance Through Loss and Passion for Design

But this gown wasn’t just about fashion—it was about resilience.

Life has been a whirlwind lately. Balancing my business while taking care of my parents, especially during my dad’s illness and passing, was incredibly tough. There were moments when I questioned if I had the energy to continue designing. But through it all, I held onto one thing—my passion.

Stepping back into my craft after everything wasn’t easy, but this gown reminded me why I do what I do. It symbolized not just a beautiful prom moment but also strength, dedication, and the ability to create something magical despite life’s challenges. Seeing my client light up in her final fitting was a reminder that even in the toughest times, beauty and joy can still be created. 💖
