GENERAL EVENT GUIDELINES
AMBOX Events and those who came before it helped build a community we all love today. Many things have changed since it was established. Still, its primary goal remained true: to provide a venue for hobbyists, cosplayers, fans, and the public to interact freely.
To ensure the safety and security of everyone, we have introduced the General Event Guidelines. Maintaining peace and order during events can foster an environment where everyone can grow, hone their talent and skill, and be themselves. Since then, cosplayers, artists, performers, and enthusiasts can safely express their thoughts and feelings during conventions.
The General Event Guidelines have changed and have been modified for clarity, to address the community's needs, and to adapt to the ever-changing trends in pop culture over the past years. As we open our venue again for onsite events, we encourage everyone in the community, young and young-at-hearts, to observe the following guidelines:
1. Anyone may cosplay any character or idea. However, some titles and characters are prohibited for being indecent, offensive, and improper for the general public or audience. Please consider the occasion, time, and place in choosing your costume. It should not constitute he**ai, e***i, or provocative and scandalous costumes. Actual uniforms, such as government or corporate uniforms, are strictly prohibited.
2. Cosplayers and other participants must always observe propriety and decency. Avoid inappropriate words or behaviors. Any illegal acts/omission and acts of impropriety or indecency committed inside the venue or during events will result in automatic disqualification and may be banned from entering the premises.
3. The following are the props and equipment guidelines to be observed:
a) Equipment and props refer to anything inanimate used by cosplayers related to their character and performances. Equipment and props for the stage ex*****on or performance are limited to what the cosplayers have brought to the venue. Use of any movable objects from the venue is not allowed.
b) Making props within the venue or event premises is prohibited. Fixing and preparation must be done at the designated holding area for cosplayers. Do not leave any mess after fixing and preparing any props.
c) The organizer and staff will not help the cosplayers during the performance on stage. The event stage crew will only guide the cosplayers in setting up their equipment or props on stage.
d) It is possible to scatter things on the stage during the performance, but making the stage difficult to clean is prohibited. Anything that takes time to clean up or clear out is not permitted.
e) Use of fire or smoke in any form is strictly prohibited. Other dangerous and destructive equipment and props are not permitted. Pyrotechnics is totally and legally prohibited.
f) To avoid inconvenience, all participants must present or inform the organizers about their equipment and props (including prop weapons) upon registration to determine their qualifications. The organizer reserves the right to allow or disapprove the dangerous or inappropriate equipment and props.
4. The following prop weapons guidelines are to be observed:
a) All kinds/types of actual or live weapons are prohibited. These include but are not limited to: swords, knives, poles, guns, sharpened edges, and similar objects. Similar objects refer to anything that could cause damage or injury or be used as projectiles or anything that may harm or pose a danger to other people.
b) All weapons must be recognizable as props that are crafted, wooden, plastic, or some toy that does not fire any projectiles. Only prop guns that do not resemble real or actual live fi****ms will be permitted. Guns must be plastic and can be recognized as a toy, and they must not have any projectiles in their chamber. Projectiles are not allowed and will be confiscated.
c) All prop weapons must be carried safely and responsibly. Avoid pointing the prop weapons at anyone. All prop swords or similar objects must be held on the side or back with tips facing the ground. All staffs or spears must be carried in a vertical position with their tips pointing upward.
d) If a prop weapon is a part of the costume, avoid swinging or pointing them at another person. Misuse of any weapon or prop, such as deliberately swinging them in a crowded area or causing hazards to others, will result in confiscation for being deemed unsafe. If a weapon or prop is deemed unsafe for the event, the cosplayer will be asked to remove the weapon or prop from the event or activity areas, or a staff member will keep it in a safe location until the event is over.
e) All weapons or props will be inspected and can either be approved or rejected before entrance into events.
5. For any competitions or contests with criteria for judging, a point accumulation system shall be used in tabulating the scores in contrast with the averaging or total mean system.
6. Cosplayers must abide by the photo opportunity schedules. Cosplayers must avoid photo opportunities during the cosplay presentation or competition proper to avoid commotion during the program.
7. All participants and attendees must pay attention to the General Event Guidelines, mechanics, category rules, and official directions of the organizers. Any acts or omissions committed against the General Event Guidelines, mechanics, category rules, and official instructions or orders of the organizers and event staff will result in disqualification and/or banning from the event.
8. All information submitted by participants will not be disclosed.
9. The organizers reserve the right to accept or deny entries for legal and other valid reasons.
10. Changes in the General Event Guidelines, mechanics, category rules, and official instructions or directions of the organizers will be duly announced.
