How to become a photographer? How do you edit your pics? What are the lens you used? What is the model of your camera? – I always hear these questions from my friends. They ask me advise on how to become a better photographer. I can’t give them any because I don’t want them to rely on what I will say. To become a photographer is easy but the hard part is to become a better photographer. I like photography but I didn’t expect to become a photographer. I started my photography career a year ago. It started as a hobby because I also became a traveler so I needed digital copies of what I see (like sunset views, nature, buildings, people and more) for my personal collection of photos. That time, I was not contented on my camera phone so I bought my first DSLR camera. I started to do some landscape photos but I was still not contented because I wanted to know what kind of area photography I could excel on. Then, I start doing portrait photography and using props and models. Night portraits are my favorite now because it is very challenging. You have to play the settings of your camera when shooting at night to achieve a clean photo. If you want to become a better photographer, you have to learn to use editing softwares like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. Editing a photo can add a feeling and emotion to your photo. You can create your own style in editing through these programs. Choose a camera that suits you. If you are an aspiring photographer, start with a camera that is for beginners. There are lots of affordable start-up cameras in the market. Consider also the lens because it depends on what kind of photography you want. If you want landscape photography you need wide angle lenses (24mm, 18mm, 8mm). 18-55mm kit lenses are good for newbies. Don’t buy an expensive camera while starting photography! Why? What if, in the future, you don’t like photography at all? Remember, becoming a photographer is also an investment of money, time, and emotions. What will happened if you don’t like photography at all? The camera you bought will be sold or used as a display. My advise is don’t make photography a simple business --make it a hobby. It's okay to earn money from it, but it's better if it becomes a passionate hobby. Being passionate on what you do makes you happy. That’s all. Keep shooting! Glory to God!
