Pagsibol: Tourism for the Indigenous Community — A student led community Outreach by the BSTM Senior students of ISAT-U.
As Charles Dickens said, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” No matter who we are and what we think of ourselves, we can still be an instrument to reach out for those who are in need. And with our own little ways, we can bring goodness and spread positivity to the community.
Months ago, the group were thinking who would be the chosen beneficiary of the Tourism Program for a long term project?
We decided to choose the Indigenous people at Leong, Cabatuan, Iloilo because they were denied to access to certain rights and services. Thus, this also giving them health support and other projects for their wellbeing. The long-term purpose of this Outreach event program is to produce opportunities. Also build avenues where people can thrive with support and Bayanihan with others to uplift and inspire, to share and pass on the legacy to lower years to continue the legacy of the Tourism Program.
Earlier, the Senior students of Tourism Management from Iloilo Science and Technology University, together with the Faculties and lower years have gone extra miles to go out and reached the IPs with a goal to lend a helping hand in these trying times.
Relief goods, Medical kits, and etc. have prepared to give out to 12 families with 57 members in a small community. The IPs have undergone Medical and Dental Check up and they also received Medicines and Vitamins with the support and Donations of Rural Health unit of Cabatuan and Rotaract Club of Iloilo West.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the ISAT-U Faculties, BSTM Students and to the Mayor of Cabatuan Iloilo, Brgy Captain of Leong, Cabatuan, Iloilo, Rural Health Unit of Cabatuan, Rotaract Club of Iloilo West and to the organizers and committee, who are generous and considerate of their time and effort to made this endeavor possible.
