“Buti nga meron, yung iba wala.”

The crew meal for any event is one of the factors that encourage work efficacy and positive aura among the service providers.

The range of services of a supplier is dependent on the agreement between the client and the service provider. Included in the contract is the food arrangement. For some suppliers, they include meal allowance within their contract for acceptable reasons. For some, they do not include it in the fees collected but states further in their contract that meals during the event are to be provided by the client. For the latter scenario, the client is assumed to provide decent and satisfying meals for the service providers.

As per practice in our few accomplished events, we make sure to discuss the crew meal arrangements with the client prior to the day of event. As a coordinator, we are also concerned about the welfare of all suppliers aside from prioritizing the client’s needs. Not only by ensuring decent food but also managing comfortable working space and professional rapport.

For the case below, it is upsetting to know that the client paid for a high-end service provider but was not able to arrange a better food setup and enough food for their suppliers. It is disappointing that some do not give value to the comfort and satistaction of suppliers (on the day of event) and also expects the best just because they paid.

Some may say “buti nga meron, yung iba wala”. It could have been at least packed properly and individually. The suppliers are not there to enjoy the unpacking and preparation of the food. They already do not have the ample time to eat due to work checklist and time pressure, the least to do is to have the meals packed individually. Also, refreshments should always be provided. Bottled water, at least.

ALTHOUGH for some events (nu san kinoboyan ay kanan da, watwat style) wherein food is served in plastic, paper plates and sometimes banana trunks, the suppliers should be well aware. Proper communication is necessary to set the expectations with the suppliers prior to the day of event.
