Happy 18th Company Anniversary Merlene Marcelo Couture

Its been 18 years today.... the birthday of "Forever"...Sept.2,2002...the day I launched my name, Merlene Marcelo Couture, to the bridal world, at my very first bridal fair at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel. I have been making wedding gowns and formal wear since way back, but that day, Sept.2, it was the day I launched my work to people that don't know me, hoping for a chance that my work be recognized. Back then, I can still vividly remember, having just one wedding gown on display. A lot of soon to marry couples started curiously looking at my work, the intricacy of what then was known" my original artwork". It was a combination of original embroidery design, beading work with silver threading. I prayed to God ...God, just make people believe in my work...I hope I can get , even just one client from this fair that would love my craftsmanship, my design, and I will be very happy. Guess what God gave me, an overwhelming response from couples...guess what God gave me, God's blessing...20 clients...as in 20 brides, booking in the span of one month!!! To God be the glory!!! I started getting more appointments from prospective clients... and at the end, booking with me....just with one wedding gown on display...so we started calling that wedding gown "Forever" because forever, am I getting work because of that gown. Now, my designs has evolved, but "Forever" will always be in my heart and one day, each year, Sept.2, "Forever" is displayed at my shop to remember where and when I started. For all my friends, clients, relatives, that believed in my work, a Big Thank You, for entrusting your special day with me. It’s been “TRYING TIMES” now because of this Covid-19 Pandemic Crisis but we are all keeping our faith that this Covid will be eradicated soon and we will be able to bounce back and serve you all in the near future! I can’t wait to do your dream outfits! See you soon!!!

My shop is empty now, very different from the hustle and bustle of our old normal. My work days were filled with entertaining lots of clients, strutting from one fitting room to the next, exchanging pleasantries with guests and making sure that they are all happy with my creations... As we prepare to go BACK... to a NEW normal, I am hopeful that my business will be just as vibrant as before, not necessarily for myself but for the people I employ and their families. The way we provide our services may change to protect everyone from this dreaded virus BUT our objective will still be the same, to bring out the smile and beauty of each of our clients. People say that events in the New Normal would be simpler with much less guests. We should treat this new norm as an opportunity to shine more and look twice as gorgeous. Just think, there will be no other people to focus on other than you and a few loved ones. Besides, the pictures of the event will last forever. I always tell my clients that we have to look good for ourselves first before anybody else. These first few weeks of the New Normal will be most challenging not only for my shop but for the whole Philippine economy. I encourage you to support Philippine made products and help ensure that our countrymen are continuously employed. If you have the means to have something crafted, this may be the best time to do so. You not only get good bargains and look great, but more importantly you get to feel a sense of fulfillment that you have helped the economy bounce back.
