Are you having a Catholic church wedding soon? 🙂
❗️READ UNTIL THE END FOR AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE❗️
Here are the requirements you need to secure and real life experience that may help you in advance! :)
1. Marriage License
- 120 days validity
- Make sure to plan ahead your schedules in getting the documents needed
- If you are civilly married already, submit your Marriage Contract instead
- You can apply your marriage license in either city of the Bride or Groom
- Some requirements for marriage license includes: CENOMAR, Birth Certificate, Pre-Marriage Counseling Certificate, Barangay Certificate, Valid ID, and Cedula. Please inquire to your city or municipal hall for the exact requirements needed. If you are applying in Makati City Hall, message us so we can send you the exact requirements you need. :)
2. Baptismal Certificate
- Request from the parish where you were baptized
- Must have a note stating “FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES”
- 3 months validity
- If Bride or Groom are non-Catholic, submit your proof of religion
3. Confirmation Certificate
- Request from the parish where you had your confirmation
- Must have a note stating “FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES”
- 3 months validity
- If Bride or Groom are non-Catholic, submit your proof of religion
4. Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)
- You may request for your CENOMAR online. Link in the comment section!
- Processing and delivery of paid requests take around 4-6 working days (for Metro Manila deliveries) and 6-8 working days (for provincial deliveries) after receipt of payment. We got mine after 4 working days!
- Request for 1 to 2 copies, depending on the requirements of your Parish. We submitted 1 Original copy for our Marriage License and another 1 Original copy to the Church.
- 3 months validity
5. Birth Certificate
- You may request for your PSA Birth Certificate online. Link in the comment section!
- Delivery is around the same working days as the request for CENOMAR
6. Pre-Cana Seminar
- Schedule depends on the Parish where you’re getting married. Make sure to inquire this to their office.
7. Canonical Interview
- This will also be scheduled by the Parish office usually 2 weeks before your wedding.
8. Marriage Banns
- This is to inform the public of the upcoming union of 2 individuals to raise any canonical or civil legal impediments to the marriage, to prevent marriages that are invalid.
- These are usually posted in the parish near the Bride and Groom’s residences when they were young AND in the parish near the Bride and Groom’s current residences.
9. Certificate of Freedom to Marry
- This requirement is for foreigner or Filipino living abroad straight for 2 years or more.
- This is requested to the Catholic Church nearest your residence abroad.
10. Name and License Number of your officiating priest
- This is needed if you have a guest priest with you.
11. ID photos (2x2 or 1x1)
12. List of Principal Sponsors (for some archdiocese)
13. Confession (for some archdiocese)
14. Love Story (for some archdiocese)
This is just a guide for you to have an idea. You definitely need to go to the Church’s parish office for the exact requirements you need to submit.
‼️ Yes, ang dami! Pero please prioritize these requirements, especially 3 to 4 months before your wedding day. Because you might be preparing for the grandest wedding celebration, but you cannot have a wedding without these requirements!
