A customer asked me how much it cost to make a 5 min video

𝗠𝗲: 10,000php po 📷
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Masyado namang mahal, tapos 5 minutes lang?
𝗠𝗲: How much do you think it would cost you?
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: 3,000php maximum... Madali lang naman yon diba?! Shoot ka lang ng video tapos edit lang.
𝗠𝗲: hmm puwede naman ikaw nalang gumawa
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Pero hindi ko alam kung paano...📷
𝗠𝗲: For 2,000php tuturuan kita, nakasave ka pa ng 8,000php. You'll get the knowledge na kailangan mo. 📷
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Sige, pwede na din.📷
𝗠𝗲: But to get started: May mga kailangan tayong gamit:

‌Laptop / pc for editing (60k - 150k) (Hindi yong pc/laptop na pang powerpoint lang)
Camera body (40k - 180k)
lenses (20k - 200k)
Stabilizer (18k - 40k)
Lights (15k - 200k)
Tripod (10k - 80k)
Other accessories (1k - 10k)

𝗠𝗲: Well then for another 7,000php more I'll rent my stuff to you para makagawa ka. 📷

𝗠𝗲: Okay! Thursday I'll wait for you to start doing this work ha.
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: But I can't on Thursday I only have time today.📷
𝗠𝗲: I'm sorry, but I'm only available on Thursday to teach you and lend you my stuff. Other days are busy with other clients na kasi. 📷
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Okay! That means I'm going to sacrifice my Thursday and give up my other tasks.
📷𝗠𝗲: I forgot to mention, you also have to pay for the non-productive factors.📷
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: Totoo ba? Ano naman yun?📷
𝗠𝗲: Internet connection, power, etc.
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿: 2,000 sa turo, 7,000 sa rent ng stuff, 1000 na lang kulang para ikaw gumawa.📷

Konti nalang din naman ang idadagdag ikaw na pala gumawa.📷

5 Ways to respect your photographer

1. Don’t ask photographers for raw photos (raw photos consume LARGE amount of data which is hard to transfer and not all photographers are comfortable providing raw snaps) if they want to provide you they will or if it’s within the contract.

2. Don’t add filter or edit pictures that are already edited by the photographer without consent. (Photographers wants to take CREDIT from pictures they’ve “SPENT TIME EDITING” and not from pictures that are filtered by ig/fb or 2nd hand edited by anyone “Stop tagging/ Stop re editing / Stop cropping”!

3. Don’t ask a photographer to take your photo if you don’t like their style. (If you think you can shoot better or the photo you want doesn’t match the photographers style, then don’t bother asking. You need to trust your photographer)

4. Don’t expect quick outputs. (Editing is not a quick process. Not all photos or style works with presets. We as an artist take our time to edit the photos including little details that might not matter to others. We don’t simply tweek panels to adjust colors. We try our best to set moods, read angles when we postprocess.)

5. Don’t initiate free photos. (Photography is no different from your daily job. If your job is a call center agent would you enjoy taking in phone calls for hours without pay? I don’t think so. Let photographers initiate. Don’t obligate them to bring their cameras or take your photos. They would most probably want to take photos of their family and friends.
