Two weeks to go before the much anticipated CMG Homecoming Show takes place but before that eventful day, we would like to give homage to these three individuals, who without them, this whole CMG thing would not have existed in the first place.
Back in 2004, these three visionaries, Rage Fajardo, Joemar Calixto, and Jay-R Calixto, conceptualized the idea of connecting the local underground music scenes of both CDO and Iligan. While Iligan already had an established Defiance Network underground outfit, CDO had nothing. Since both cities were strategically connected via the CDO-Iligan Corridor Highway System, the name “Corridor” became the perfect fit. Hence, Corridor Music Group came into existence in 2004. Throughout the years, CDO’s CMG and Iligan’s Defiance Network have become brothers in arms and have helped launched the musical careers of underground bands in their respective cities.
Incidentally, the three are also members of seminal bands. Rage is part of Kill Mickey (aka Kill Micky Mouse) from Iligan while the Calixto brothers are 2/5 of the band Story of My Scab from CDO. Though these three are no longer active in the local scene and have moved on to greener pastures, they will always remain as the pillars of CMG.
