A Ceremony Steeped in Symbolism

For years, we've had the privilege of crafting dream weddings that reflect the love stories of countless couples. But recently, we embarked on a unique journey, planning the very first Persian wedding Belle Mariee has ever organized. This was not just any wedding but a celebration steeped in rich traditions and a love that transcended language, making it a truly captivating experience.

The couple, Sharzad and Brandon, dreamt of a wedding that honored Shar's Persian heritage while incorporating modern touches. We dove headfirst into researching the beautiful customs and symbolism behind a Persian wedding ceremony.

The wedding events began with the Sofreh Aghd, a beautifully decorated spread showcasing symbolic elements. On the spread were mirrors & candles representing light, clarity, and love in the couple's life. Rock candies symbolize a sweetened life for the newlyweds. Breads symbolize prosperous feasts in the newlywed's future. Esfand, wild rue seeds are burned (in a coal brazier) as part of the purification ritual. Then, the honey is consumed after the bride and groom exchange rings. They moisten their pinky fingers with honey and place them in each other's mouths to represent the sweetness of their life. Two sugar loaves rubbed together over a "ghand cloth" by women close to the bride and groom to shower their marriage with sweetness. The ceremony itself was a moving display of tradition.

Shar & Bran's wedding was a day filled with laughter and love. We are truly honored to have played a part in making their dream a reality. We can't wait to share more photos of the evening celebration with you and are excited for the future events we have in store. Stay tuned.

“My ring is missing. I really want to get it back. I feel so weird without it” --- Stephane.

Today’s feature is the wedding of Cookie & Stephane. These two I’ve known since Pre-Pandemic - yes, theirs was among the weddings that got postponed due to Covid. A lot of things (heavy and light) happened in between, and I’m glad these two held on to our plans - thank you, guys!

Featuring them today, as I would say theirs was a perfect situation times three! Yes, both of them declared they were crazy enough to marry each other three times in one year. So, that’s why Stephane wanted his ring so badly during the ceremony; he cannot wait for the exchange (again) as he’s had it since their first wedding. I can understand why he feels weird without it.

The Destination Wedding of David & Fanta (recently) was one of the many highlights of 2023 for us. Easily one of the most anticipated events for us because although we have been in this industry for more than 15 years, we had many firsts during this wedding. To mention a few, it was our first time to have an entire resort property locked exclusive just for our guests. It was our first time to have an all-exclusive French delegation come here for a wedding, that getting a French translator was non-negotiable. It was also our first time working with a make-up artist and DJ from Paris. And first time working with this amazing band - Infinite Soul from Cavite.

The welcome dinner on the first day was held at the South Palms in Panglao, while the ceremony and reception were held at Mithi Resort and Spa on the second day. To add a Boholano touch to the send-off before guests headed to the airport on the third day, David & Fanta treated all their guests to lunch aboard a riverboat that traversed the Loboc river stretch with local singers and dancers as entertainment. It was a memorable 3-day event for each of the guests that during breakfast the last day, some of them approached the team and me to thank us for the best wedding they'd been to. A few were so cute and thoughtful to show us their phone screens with a google translated message thanking us for the experience they had the past days. It was so heartwarming to think that even if they didn't speak English, they still found a way to express their gratitude as guests.

You might be asking why the Philippines when the couple is based, and the guests are all from Paris. David, of Vietnamese descent, and Fanta, whose family hails from Senegal before moving to Paris, have a lot of history in the Philippines. It is where they first traveled together as a couple seven years ago, and David proposed to Fanta in Palawan.
