Today marks the birth anniversary of Advocate Noor Muhammad Lakhair, the Founder of Noor Muhammad High School in Hyderabad. He was born on the 16th of September, 1845. Lakhair received his early education in Dokri Larkana and successfully completed the matriculation examination at Sindh Madressatul Islam in Karachi. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and later pursued an LLB from Aligarh College. Following the completion of his LLB, Lakhair commenced his legal practice in Hyderabad Deccan before eventually relocating to Hyderabad, Sindh. Although he initially served as a judge in Khairpur, his fervor for advocacy led him to resign from his judicial position and resume his legal practice in Hyderabad. He played a significant role in the freedom movement.
In 1858, the British Government established Hyderabad High School. Noor Muhammad Lakhair dedicated substantial efforts to the growth of this institution. In recognition of his tireless contributions, the school was renamed as Noor Muhammad High School in 1930. Additionally, he established the Muslim Hostel to provide accommodation for students attending this school. This remarkable individual departed from this earthly realm on the 22nd of August, 1937. Per his wishes, he was laid to rest in the Muslim Hostel in Hyderabad, Sindh.
