UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL

UNSC is the only UN body with binding powers in its resolutions, which aim on tackling threats to international security. It can impose sanctions or even authorise using force in favour of maintaining international peace. UNSC requires of its delegates to be alert, quick witted, and diplomatic. Delegates need to analyse situations according to their own national interests and get their resolutions signed. UNSC will be one of the most intense committees of the MUN, and it awaits its 15 members so it can get started!

DISARMAMENT AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY COMMITTEE

DISEC is the first committee of the UNGA. It addresses and deals with issues that are related to disarmament challenges to global security as well as threats to international peace. The work of the committee includes nuclear weapons, conventional weapons, regional disarmament and disarmament machinery. For all the delegates who are interested in international security policies, DISEC promises to be a perfect fit.

SOCIAL, HUMANITARIAN AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE

SOCHUM- the third committee of the UNGA- focuses on fundamental human rights issues. Founded after the establishment of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, this committee promises to be enticing for all those who are staunch supporters of equal rights for all. SOCHUM’s primary role is to protect the rights of indigenous people, media, women and children. Gear up for a sure to be enlightening committee and remember: “A right delayed is a right denied.”

INTERNATIONAL CRISIS AD-HOC COMMITTEE

ICAC- as the name suggests- requires delegates to think quick as a crisis is introduced to them during the session. ICAC is a fast-paced committee which requires delegates who can come up with solutions whilst also diplomatically making sure these solutions are accepted. That is, until an update comes and the world is tilted off its axis again. If you think you’re up for it, this committee could be the most fun you experience. Think fast!

UNITED NATIONS WOMEN

UNW is dedicated towards gender equality; it works to make the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women. Women are encouraged through UNW to seize their full potential and participate equally in all standards of life. Delegates who are a staunch supporter of women’s rights and development will no doubt appreciate this committee.

PAKISTAN NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

The National Assembly of Pakistan is the lower legislative house of the bicameral Parliament of Pakistan. This bilingual committee symbolises the will of the people whilst upholding the constitution. Delegates in PNA will have to bring feasible solutions for current issues, as well as tackle new ones. A favourite amongst many debaters, this year’s PNA promises to bring fruitful and entertaining debate.

COP28- CLIMATE CRISIS

Focused on climate related catastrophes, COP-28 will bring into the spotlight issues pertaining to global warming and climate change (including but not limited to rising sea levels, extreme weather patterns, endangerment and extinction of species etc.). COP-28 promises to be the perfect fit for delegates who are strong advocates for fighting climate change. Be quick on your feet and remember: time and tide wait for no man.

He has conducted various capacity building seminars at NUST, COMSATS, FROEBELS, CITY SCHOOL, BEACONHOUSE, MYU & SZABIST. We're pleased to have him as a guest speaker at our Model UN.
