Happy World Photography Day! At the World Photography Organisation, we celebrate photographers on a daily basis. But what makes today so special is the birth of photography as we know it. On 19 August in 1839 the French government purchased the patent for the Daguerreotype, a revolutionary process that paved the way for photography we know today.
185 years later, photography is one of the most popular and accessible art forms. And so today, we want to encourage you to pick up your camera - from perfectly timed street shots to beautifully arranged still life, exercise your boundless creativity and show us how you perceive the world around you! 📸
