Every game is an opportunity to measure yourself against your true potential -- Bud Wilkinson
Pakistan is without doubt a country that has the potential to excel in every practical sphere but it has not been correctly exploited to its optimum level. Amid this chaotic situation surrounding our country, sports is the most vital tool, in helping us break free from the captivity surrounding our lives
created due to stress, hectic everyday routines and less involvement in physical activities such as sports, and the situation of the city/country as a whole. We at Aria are college students but recognize this problem that surrounds us, and are aware of how severely it could damage us hence we try to move the minds of the youth of Pakistan- the future of Pakistan away from the current scenario prevailing in the city/country to something positive. But collectively this is our second event, and we expect it to be, both bigger and better than our last event. Our last tournament "Azadi Futsal Tournament" was held in celebration of Independence Day last year on the 6th of August at Arif Hussain Shaheed Ground, Boat Basin. The three day tournament which comprised of 24 teams, and had a winning prize of Rs.20, 000 was dubbed as one of the "biggest and best" tournaments of last year. After the success of Azadi Futsal last year and the overwhelming response we received, this year we are organizing a similar tournament: "Azadi Futsal Tournament II". The venue chosen is Shapes- Lifestyle & Fitness Centre, a safe and prime locale in Karachi, which is very popular in the youth. The management at Shapes has been very cooperative so far, and they have buttressed our efforts and ideas, which has been of tremendous help. We have also increased the par, setting the winning prize at Rs.25000 (this might increase depending on the sponsors we get) and targeting around 32 teams this year. Though the dates for the tournament are 29th July-31st July we have decided to stick to the name "Azadi" because this signifies our attempts to break free from the 'captivity around our lives' that we already mentioned. The youth of Pakistan deserve such opportunities rather than the claustrophobic atmosphere created due to violence and the situation of the city that shows limited signs of improvement!
