🇵🇹 Destaques do último dia do Portugal PDC Place!
Um dia com muita partilha de ideias, apresentação de investigações de doutoramento e que, terminou, numa mesa redonda que envolveu vários participantes e as suas opiniões sobre o papel do Design Participativo e do seu papel na academia. Foram 4 dias de evento, duas faculdades, vários convidados e muitas ideias, opiniões e partilhas. Obrigada a todos os que estiveram presentes e tornaram o Portugal PDC Place possível!

A day with a lot of sharing of ideas, presentation of doctoral research and which ended with a round table that involved several participants and their opinions on the role of Participatory Design and its role in academia. There were 4 days of the event, two faculties, several guests and many ideas, opinions and shares. Thank you to everyone who was present and made Portugal PDC Place possible!

O professor Andy Dearden, da Sheffield Hallam Universidade, UK, e membro do comité organizador do PDC 2022 irá juntar-se online para uma contextualização do evento e a força do Design Participativo como metodologia. 📌About Professor Andy Dearden:
Professor Andy's work is particularly concerned with enabling people and groups who may have limited resources, or limited experience with technology, to shape systems for themselves. He worked with private, public & third sector organizations in the UK, South Asia, Indonesia and Africa. With funding from the National Institute for Healthcare Research (NIHR), he worked with the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care – South Yorkshire (CLAHRC-SY) to promote User-centred Healthcare Design (UCHD). He is currently advising Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust on staff participation in IT innovation.
In the UK, Andy have been working with community organisations and social enterprises to understand and develop innovative approaches both to designing technology and driving community development.
His current main focus is on finding ethical and effective approaches to research in Information and Communication Technologies ‘for Development’ (ICTD).

📌About Filipe Cruz:
Graduated in Graphic Design at ESAD.CR, he was the art director of Máxima magazine. Since 2020, he is a PhD Design student at FAUL and a researcher (collaborating member) at CIAUD. His research focuses on designing a conceptual model, multidisciplinary and articulated in various media, supported by an interactive interface, that promotes the territories and the connection between visitors and local community.

📌About Camila Andrade:
Camila Andrade is a professor at the Design Department of the Federal Institute of Maranhão, Brazil. She is a PhD candidate at FA.ULisboa. Researcher at CIAUD, she integrates the group REDES and the REDES DESIS Lab. She directs her research on the contributions of Participatory Design with children in the planning of playful spaces and equipments in urban margins.

Ana Melo is a practising communication designer, and a PhD candidate at FA.ULisboa, where she teaches design. She has been a member of CIAUD, and Redes Desis Lab.
Her PhD research focuses on communication design contributions within social innovation initiatives in geographic areas that face population decline.

📌 About Sandra Rodrigues:
Sandra Gomes Rodrigues graduated in Fashion Design at FAUL (Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon) and is currently a PhD student and an FCT scholarship holder for the Design Program at FAUL.
She was previously a member of the FCT Project research team: POCI/AUR/61233/2004 and a researcher at FAUL's LABCOLOR (Color Laboratory); also a researcher at FAUL's LID (Laboratory of Innovation in Design) in projects such as the EQUAL and INCLUI Programs, and at CIAUD (Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design, FAUL).
She was a guest speaker and lecturer at the ESART'07 and ESART'08 Forums at ESART (Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco). She created the Specialization Course in Fashion Design at L*D – Lisbon School of Design and Coordinated the Fashion Design department, teaching simultaneously in the Fashion Design and Footwear Design Courses. For several years she worked as a Fashion Designer. She designed the uniforms for the hostesses at the Pavilhão de Portugal at Expo Hannover 2000 and presented her own collection at the 5th edition of the Sangue Novo competition promoted by Associação ModaLisboa.
Recently, she was Co-Coordinator of Pedagogical Practices and the Observatory from Fábrica® IADE (Faculty of Design, Technology and Communication, European University). Also she was actively involved in education for the integration of adults in contexts of social exclusion, namely the inmate population in prisons and the long-term unemployed. Since 2016, she has taught and coordinated the Design Project integrated at the Life Project of the students of the EFA EB3 Industrial Sewing course at the Carregueira Detention Facility (Belas).

Her research explores co-creation methods and tools that contribute to the enhancement of sub-regions. In her work, she seeks to identify local attributes with the goal of generating strategies that help promote socioeconomic and cultural development.

Inês is a designer and design educator. Co-founder and board member of NGO “Locals Approach” (since 2014), with urban planners Gonçalo Folgado and João Martins, with whom most of the socially and politically engaged design work happens. She works as well as an assistant professor at FAUL – Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, and at the Faculty of Architecture and Arts, Lusíada University.

🇵🇹 Esta exposição é fruto da ação de pesquisa participativa com crianças da Área Metropolitana de Lisboa (AML), intitulada A Minha Cidade pelos Meus Olhos. A ação, orientada por meio do Photovoice, desenvolvida pelas investigadoras Rosa Arma(GESTUAL/CIAUD-FCT) e Camila Andrade (REDES/CIAUD-FAPEMA), para dar conta de parte dos objetivos de suas teses de doutoramento, uma em Arquitetura, sobre processos participativos e requalificação da cidade marginal autoproduzida, e outra em Design, sobre a participação infantil no planejamento de espaços e equipamentos lúdicos em margens urbanas. A ação pretendeu dar continuidade ao estudo Vozes do Direito à Cidade - fotografia participativa com as crianças do Bairro da Torre e do Alto da Cova da Moura, realizada em 2018 no âmbito do seminário Direito à Cidade (1968-2018) (GESTUAL). A segunda ação, proposta em 2021, envolveu os participantes anteriores que permaneceram no Bairro da Torre, bem como os realojados nos últimos três anos de existência do bairro para grandes conjuntos habitacionais localizados na AML. A exposição conta com fotografias de 9 crianças, com idades entre 6 e 14 anos, 4 meninas e 5 meninos.

📌About Inês P. Antunes:
With more than 8 years of experience in the non-formal education field, mainly working with early years, both in nurseries, free time activities, and cultural institutions. In the Summer of 2015, finished a Master's Degree in Artistic Education, at the Faculty of Fine Arts - Lisbon University.
In 2017, enrolled in a specialized course in Graphic Design at L*D - Lisbon School of Design.
Since 2018, worked in several fields as a Graphic Designer - from culture, corporative, events, pharmacies, and cosmetics, and most recently, as a Creative Designer at a Communication Agency.
In 2019, enrolled at IADE - Universidade Europeia, as a Ph.D. in Design Candidate.

📌About Prof. Doctor Rui Patrício:
Rui Patrício is the Coordinator of the Strategic Design and Innovation Lab (SDI.Lab) and Coordinator of the Marketing and Innovation Master Program at IADE - Faculty of Design, Technology and Communication - Universidade Europeia, Lisbon. His research interests lie at the intersection between innovation management, gamification, and design thinking. He carried out applied research on design approaches to innovation in global firms, which has resulted in publications in journals like Creativity and Innovation Management and the European Journal of Innovation Management.

He holds a PhD degree - European Doctorate - in Marketing and Strategy from the University of Aveiro with research mobility at the Design School of the Politecnico di Milano, a Master’s degree in Management and an MBA from the University of Porto Business School with an Exchange Program with the University of California, Los Angeles, a Logistics Management Program from Cranfield University (UK), a R&D + Innovation comprehensive Training Program (COTEC, Portugal) and a Kaplan - Norton Balanced Scorecard Certified Graduate (Boston, USA).

Rui Patrício is a creator of gamification tools like ideaChef®, which has been applied by many firms and universities. He also received an award from the FCT-Portuguese government/Born from Knowledge for an innovative mobile ideation game idea. Before moving to the academic community, he held management roles in marketing/innovation at startups and leading companies and completed many consulting and training international projects.

📌About Professor João Bernarda:
João Bernarda is an Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) at IADE-Universidade Europeia in Lisbon. Researcher at UNIDCOM and ID:Co.Lab - Collaborative Research Lab in Design and Sustainable Innovation and his scientific work are related to collaborative design methodologies in the social and health sector. He validated Design contribution in the improvement of their services. In addition to his academic degrees, he also has professional experience in Industrial and Product Design in advertising and production agencies. Along with his career as a designer in the social sector, he had the opportunity to collaborate with associations and organizations in the domain of Memory Loss, Mental Dementia, Mental Retardation, Psychosis, Neurodevelopmental and Brain development disorders. He coordinates a cognitive stimulation project integrated into a collaborative protocol with Associação Alzheimer Portugal and CERCICA collaborating with the project development department as an invited specialist.

📌About Prof. Doctor Ana Margarida Ferreira:
Ana Margarida Ferreira is Assistant Professor with Habilitation in Design at Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI), a senior researcher at UNIDCOM and Coordinator of ID:Co.Lab - Collaborative Research Lab in Design and Sustainable Innovations. She has Habilitation in Design (IADE-EU, 2020), a Postdoc in Design and Innovation for Social Change (2019, CUT), a Ph.D. Industrial Design/Prod. Eng. (2008, UBI), a Post-Graduation in Product Design (1996, Glasgow School of Art /CPD) and a BA in Industrial Design (1995, IADE). She collaborates with Lisbon School of Economics, Management (ISEG), from Universidade de Lisboa, with Brazilian LOGO/UFSC, ECOAR/UFRN Research Labs, and Cypriot Art + Design: e-learning Lab-Design for Social Change, of Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).
